Somatic movement offers numerous benefits for our overall well-being. Here are some of them:

1️⃣ Increased body awareness: Somatic movement helps us develop a deeper understanding of our bodies, allowing us to become more attuned to our sensations, movements, and patterns. This heightened body awareness can lead to improved posture, coordination, and overall physical performance.

2️⃣ Stress reduction: Engaging in somatic movement practices can help reduce stress and tension held in the body. By releasing muscular and emotional tension, we can experience a greater sense of relaxation and calmness.

3️⃣ Improved flexibility and mobility: Somatic movement focuses on gentle, fluid movements that promote flexibility and increase range of motion. Regular practice can help improve joint mobility, enhance flexibility, and alleviate stiffness.

4️⃣ Enhanced mind-body connection: Somatic movement encourages us to listen to our bodies and develop a deeper connection between our physical sensations, emotions, and thoughts. This integration of mind and body can lead to a greater sense of wholeness and balance.

5️⃣ Pain relief: Somatic movement can be beneficial for managing chronic pain and discomfort. By exploring movement patterns and releasing muscular tension, we can alleviate pain and promote healing.

6️⃣ Emotional healing and self-expression: Somatic movement provides a safe space for emotional exploration and expression. Through movement, we can tap into and process emotions stored in our bodies, leading to emotional healing and increased self-awareness.

Remember, these benefits may vary for each individual, and consistent practice is key to experiencing the full potential of somatic movement.

Somatic Awakening Full Day Virtual Retreat:
Harmonizing the Masculine and Feminine Energies of the Body
with Susan Kullman
Saturday June 11
11:00am - 4:00pm ET

Equilibrium is maintained through the delicate counterbalancing of opposing forces. There are energies within us that are linear, forceful, directed and focused, we often think of these as masculine. They are counterbalanced by energies that are flowing, yielding, spontaneous and expansive, we think of these as feminine.

We all have both masculine and feminine energies within us at all levels - physical, psychological and spiritual. Our physical, psychological and spiritual well being are optimized when the masculine and feminine energies are balanced.

On this Somatic Awakening Retreat day, Susan Kullman will share wisdom, insights and practices that can balance your energies at all levels. You will discover how your body needs both the capacity for forceful action, strength, structure, integrity and fluidity and flexibility. Psychologically we need to be both direct and intentional as well as graceful and receptive. Spiritually our clarity or purpose must be matched with deep surrender.

What you will discover is that balancing the energies of your being starts with balancing the energies that exist within your body.

Throughout the day you will do gentle exercises and explorations that bring you into greater somatic harmony. As you feel your body becoming more balanced, you will see that emotionally and spiritually you are also feeling more in balance.

This retreat day will demonstrate the profound impact that balancing your inner energies can have on your entire life.

THIS SATURDAY
Free Online Event:
An Introduction To Balancing The Female and Male Polarities in the Body
with Susan Kullman
Saturday, May 28th 12:00 - 1:00PM ET

In this workshop you will learn and explore how your male and female energies can be balanced and harmonized through awareness, movement and breathwork.

Our bodies are energetic systems and the complexity of life often creates confusing energetic responses within us. These conflicting energies can cause us to become overly rigid, apathetic, and/or generally unable to manifest the life that we want.

In order for our mind, body and spirit to remain resilient, subtle and fluid the energies of the body must remain aligned and in balance.

Learning how to align and harmonize your inner energies will enable you to transform stress, insecurity, pain, injury, disease, and trauma, while at the same time awakening to embodied joy.

Join Susan Kullman for this 60 minute workshop and develop your somatic intelligence by learning how to work with the energies in your body.

The session will include some gentle movement and breathing practices that bring the concepts to life.

NEW CLASS ALERT!

Somatic Psoas Savvy Movement
with Susan Kullman

Tuesdays 10:00am - 11:15am ET
live streaming
starting this week - May 24th

This class combines somatic movement explorations, fascial fitness, sacrum balancing, and traditional yoga postures.

We begin by preparing the body to move by hydrating and igniting the soft tissue. Micro movements and mobility patterns allow the muscles that have fallen asleep from chronic tightness or non-use, to unwind their stiffness and pain, and allow for structural imbalances to become more supple.

The somatic movement patterns which are slow and mindful are designed to increase mind/body awareness and dissolve the interruptions in the fascial network: i.e scar tissue, chronic tightness, injury, etc. so that the joints move freely.

We then engage in core toning and traditional yoga asanas with the intention to move without gripping and how to tone and engage our muscles without creating more tension and sticky fascia.

This class is perfect for those who wish to stay buoyant and supple as they continue to move and stay tone while aging.

This class is also a perfect fit for those who are recovering from injury or surgery and wish to start moving again.

Props Needed:
Yoga Mat
Yoga Blanket or Towel
Yoga Block
Deflatable 7 or 9 inch Pilates Ball

New Student Offer! 3 classes $39.00
Single class $25.00
10 Class Card $215.00

Virtual Somatic Sacrum Balancing
Workshop
with Susan Kullman
Saturday 5/21/23
10:30am - 12:30pm ET

The pelvis is the center of our being. It is both spiritually and physically the most powerful part of the body. The sacrum is the center bone in the back of the pelvis.

The sacrum ideally floats at the base of the spine. This enables the natural life force energy in the body to move throughout the entire spine while in addition to allowing the natural swinging action from side to side as we move.

However, due to sitting too much, musculature imbalances, scar tissue, one sided sports, or trauma the sacrum can get congested and stuck in a fix position. This lends itself to a host of issues such as
pelvic floor dysfunction, balance issues, digestion issues, low energy, low back issues, hip and knees pain, sciatic pain, and the inability to maintain a sense of stability and activation of the core.

In this 2-Hour Workshop we will explore balancing and returning to the floating sacrum.

This workshop includes somatic explorations:

• easing the tension in the pelvic floor diaphragm
• activating the hip joint articulation
• sensing the connection between skull and pelvis
• how to return to a sense of grounded center in the powerful pelvis

In this mind/body approach through the somatic movement and breath work you will sense the embodiment of a grounded sense of self.

This workshop is gentle and does not require movement experience. Most of the session will take place on the floor.

This is a live and interactive workshop.
Personal questions and individual needs will be addressed.

Props Needed:
Yoga Mat
Yoga Blanket or Towel
Yoga Block
Deflatable 7 or 9 inch Pilates Ball

Price: $35.00

Many of us may have a hard time with stillness because when things around us become quiet, we sometimes notice a marked increase in our “mind chatter,” perhaps the feeling of bouncing around from thought to thought, or potentially even a heightened sense of physical pain or discomfort. These sensations might feel fine for some, and either mildly or extremely uncomfortable for others. Everyone is different.
