This time of year, several respiratory illnesses can cause lingering symptoms, and knowing which one you’re dealing with matters.

Common illnesses we’re seeing include:

• Bronchitis – inflammation that leads to a deep, persistent cough

• Pneumonia – infection in the lungs that can cause fever, chest pain, and shortness of breath

• Whooping Cough (Pertussis) – severe coughing fits that make it hard to breathe

• RSV – especially tough on young children and older adults, often causing wheezing and heavy congestion
