One of the top things I am thankful for is my health! It is a continual journey and I learn more about myself each day. The last few months I have been researching and learning more about the psychology of why we choose the certain foods we eat, when we eat them, social and emotional triggers, and so much more about nutrition. I’d like to offer my top 4 tips for today, as you are surrounded by tons of tempting food options!!
1. As you fill your plate, get LESS than you think you will eat. Tell yourself that you can come back for seconds if you are still hungry afterwards (I can almost guarantee you won’t come back!) Instead of 2 scoops, start with 1. You will feel so much better!
2. As you begin eating, start with the healthiest items first. Salad, steamed or sautéed veggies, white turkey meat. This will help you fill up faster with the more nutritious items and you will consume less fat, butter, cheese...
3. Drink a glass of water before and with your meal. If you are drinking alcohol or sugary drinks today, rotate a glass of water in between each.
4. Either use a small plate for desserts and get just a taste or two of each, OR make your dessert plate to go! Save those calories for tomorrow’s budget, and enjoy them with your morning coffee/tea, or after tomorrow’s lunch.
None of these tips will take away from enjoying any of your annual Thanksgiving food! You will still get to indulge on this day of blessings, but your body will thank you and feel so much better later today and tomorrow. Hope you all have an AMAZING day!!! 🤗🧡❤️🤎💛💚
