📣Hey BCBAs! 📣
Whether you work in a clinic setting, individually with families, educational trainings or in caregiver support only - if you are cutting and pasting entire programming or support goals - you’re missing the mark.
Individualizing care plans means taking each client’s current skill set, instructional history, current social constructs and unique goals into consideration. Just because one plan worked with one child, it doesn’t mean it will automatically work with the next.
Flexibility and adaptability are key! Also, not being too proud to say “Well that didn’t work. Let’s try something new.”
📣 Hey Caregivers 📣
“How can I make sure my child receives individualized care?”
Look for providers who…
🤍 ask questions about your child as an individual - their likes, dislikes and what makes them who they are
🤍 take your families unique dynamics into consideration
🤍 highlight your child’s strengths and not just areas for growth
🤍 explain the WHY behind the plan and not just the HOW
Remember - leave the cookie cutters for the sugar cookies…
