Sequoia is proud to welcome Donna J. Hawley, DNP, APNP, PMHNP, CDP, to our team!
Donna is the founder and program lead of the Sequoia Pathways: Dementia Education & Support Program, launching in 2025 (stay tuned!). A board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Certified Dementia Practitioner & Trainer, Dr. Hawley brings more than 25 years of experience in geriatrics, dementia care, mental health, hospice, and palliative care.
She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice and Master of Science in Nursing Education from the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh, and her Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Certification from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. Alongside her clinical practice, she has been a nursing faculty member at UW–Oshkosh since 2013, teaching and mentoring the next generation of nurses.
Dr. Hawley developed Sequoia Pathways to provide evidence-based dementia education for caregivers, staff, and communities, with the goal of improving quality of life for individuals living with dementia and supporting those who care for them. The program emphasizes innovation, compassion, and caregiver empowerment, integrating best practices in dementia care with accessible training and support.
In addition to her program leadership, she is an active committee member with the Alzheimer’s Association. She has also served as an expert representative for the Wisconsin Department of Human Services Long-Term Care Advisory Board.
Her vision is to expand dementia education and support services statewide and beyond, ensuring that caregivers and care teams have the tools they need to deliver compassionate, person-centered care and improve the quality of life for those living with dementia.
Please join us in welcoming her to Sequoia as she builds the Sequoia Pathways: Dementia Education & Support Program!
