Join us in celebrating Dr. Lahoma Schultz, a valued member of Division 35, Section 6, for her remarkable contributions and well-deserved recognition.

Dr. Schultz was honored with the 2025 Oklahoma Federation of Indian Women’s (OFIW) Mary Townsend Crow Service Award at Northeastern State University’s Broken Arrow campus, an award that reflects her deep commitment to service, leadership, and community impact.

We also recognize her historic role as the Muscogee (Creek) Nation citizen who proposed the raising of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation flag at the City of Bixby Municipal building. With this effort, Bixby became the first city within the Muscogee (Creek) Reservation to pass an ordinance to fly the flag, an enduring symbol of respect, recognition, and sovereignty.

Dr. Schultz’s work exemplifies dedication, advocacy, and meaningful change. We are proud to celebrate her achievements and the lasting impact she continues to make.

Spring has arrived across Turtle Island 🌎🌿
A season of returning light, renewed breath, and movement after stillness.

As the land awakens, so do we! invited to realign with the rhythms that have always guided our relatives before us.

This is a time to reconnect with the earth, to honor what rested through winter, and to step forward into what we have been quietly growing.

May we walk gently, give thanks often, and flourish alongside the land that continues to care for us.

As we continue to celebrate International Women’s History Day, we are shining a bright light on our incredible Past-President of Section 6 Dr. Alberta Arviso (Diné). 🎓

Dr. Arviso isn’t just a leader; she is a bridge-builder. From the halls of Washington State University to her vital work within the Navajo Nation, she has redefined what it means to be a “culturally fluent” psychologist.

Her impact reaches far and wide:

🌟 Advocacy in Action: A fierce voice for the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and Missing and Murdered Indigenous People (MMIP).

🌟 Healthy Communities: Leading the “Healthy ANIMALS, Healthy Communities” initiative, proving that wellness is interconnected.

🌟 Living Philosophy: Grounding her leadership in K’é: the sacred Diné concept of kinship and relationship that reminds us we are all connected.

Fluent in Diné Bizaad and a mentor to many, Dr. Arviso’s tenure as President helped pave a path for Indigenous women in psychology to lead with their hearts and their heritage.

Thank you, Dr. Arviso, for your wisdom, your resilience, and your unwavering commitment to our community!

✨ Celebrating a Visionary Leader for International women’s day! ✨

Today, we are shining a massive spotlight on our incredible Section 6 President, Dr. Vicky Lomay! 🪶

As an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation (Diné) and a powerhouse Clinical Neuropsychologist, Dr. Lomay is redefining what it means to bridge culture and science.

Dr. Lomay brings the clinic to the community. Here’s why she’s a total trailblazer:

• The SWICA Tool: She helped develop the Southwest Indigenous Cognitive Assessment, a game-changing tool that ensures memory screenings are culturally fair and accurate for Indigenous people.

• “Out There” Assessment: She has taken high-level brain health evaluations out of the office and into the heart of rural and tribal communities.

• Voice for Change: As President-Elect of the Society of Indian Psychologists, she’s a leading voice for health equity and Indigenous resilience.
