Do you or your child have ADHD?
These days it’s common to have symptoms of this diagnosis. With TikTok, Instagram Reels, and the busy world, everything is so fast paced. We get accustomed to only needing a short attention span.
A child who has ADHD has different needs than a child who doesn’t struggle with this. It is so easy to get frustrated at your child for not getting dressed fast enough, not listening to your instructions, not cleaning their room, not picking up their toys, etc. But, it is all because they get distracted. Most children are not trying to disobey their parents. However, all children DO NOT realize that they are forgetful. With ADHD, forgetfulness is at the top of the list.
Parents can easily get frustrated. During times of frustration, it is hard to remember that these children are different. They think and do things differently, but they still require the same amount of love and affection. In fact, there has been a recent study that has shown that adults and children with ADHD require more positivity and more praise in their lives. They thrive off appreciation and gratitude. Be consistent in the things you are asking your child to do. When they do something awesome, let them know right away. The praise creates a dopamine release that their brain is lacking due to the ADHD.
A child who is honored, praised, and loved in their home have a greater chance of success in their career, relationships, self-awareness, and life when they enter adulthood.
