People often ask me if there is a book that summarizes how to live healthy.

The answer is How To Eat, Move & Be Healthy by Paul Chek. An amazing and basic read that will completely change how you look at health and fitness.

I will recommend more in the future, but this is the absolute best place to start.

What is your view on exercise?

A) I love it and I look for every opportunity to be active whether I am in the gym or not.

B) I am super busy but I make time for exercise because I know it is important.

C) I know how important exercise is but it is hit or miss for me if I am being honest.

D) I know I should exercise but quite frankly I hate it! Maybe one day I will get into the habit of it.

One of the most unfortunate things that the 21st Century has done to fitness, is to quarantine it.

What do I mean exactly?

Look how we box up our fitness into a nice little package.

"I go to work, and then I work out".
"I exercised hard for 30 minutes today"
"I totally biffed it this week cause I skipped the gym all together"

Now let's go back in time 10,000 years ago,

Were we thinking about getting to the gym or feeling guilty for not exercising enough?

Not at all. We lived in an environment that was naturally conducive to exercise and we need to get back to those basics.

Look for every opportunity to move you body.

Park further away. Take the stairs. Workout outside in the heat, opt for a standing or treadmill desk at work if you can.

It's a mindset.

It's time to get back to the basics!

Friday Fit Tip!

If you are under a lot of stress and you are still training hard in the gym (or outside, or wherever) you could be taxing your body beyond it's limits, because even exercise is considered a stressor (albeit a good one) to your body.

Consider taking some adaptogens.

What is an adaptogen you ask?

An adaptogen is usually a plant based substance that helps your body deal with stress by naturally regulating your stress hormones such as cortisol and nor-epinephrine.

There are dozens of different varieties but today I want to recommend that you start with Ashwagandha. It is a powerhouse adaptogen. I recommend that you go organic and start with a 1/2 teaspoon a day and build up to a full tablespoon over a 2-3 week window.

Your body will thank you!
