KENTUCKY
I've been among incredible birth workers this past week at the twins and breech conference in Louisville.
When I sat down in my seat the first night, I turned to my left and who did I see but my friend from afar, Elizabeth! (first pic) We knew each other virtually because of the live sessions we participate in w but have never met in person. We immediately hugged and started chatting. It made my heart so happy to finally meet her in person and hear her stories about beginning midwifery at age 14 by assisting her grandmother. By 18 she'd attended over 500 births. Of course her first baby of her own was born breech. She's gentle and calm and makes my heart smile.
I was most excited about this conference to listen and learn from and had some great individual time to chat with her.
I was also so excited to hear from Carol Gautschi her talk was so inspiring and emotional, she embodies the comforting presence that midwives are meant to carry into the birth space.
Oh man, I got to meet so many more fun friends. We all started off reserved and sort of in our own little boxes and by the end of the week I was flitting from table to table talking and laughing with so many amazing friends. Holly, Julie Anne, Aravah and so many more that I didn't get pictures with. The days were non-stop packed but still we managed to find time to laugh. I loved listening to them and imagining each of their voices in the birth space comforting a mom.
We did simulations with multiple providers and it was really good to see each person's preferred method and techniques. Thanks again to and all the other presenters that gave impactful speeches and made this week so brilliant. 🙏🏼
