For professional and confidential substance abuse and psychological treatment, turn to the Big Island Substance Abuse Council. With years of experience, we provide intensive and outpatient treatment, therapeutic living programs, psychological treatment, and employee and employer assistance programs. We promise to serve all clients and not turn anyone away based on their inability to pay, offer discounted fees/sliding scale based on family size and income for clients who qualify, and not deny services based on a person's race, disability, age, color, religion, gender identity, s*x, s*xual orientation, or national origin. BISAC accepts medical insurance including Medicaid, Medicare, and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) when applicable. We are committed to ensuring affordable access to care for everyone.

Join us in welcoming Lark Morin and Michele Clarke to our Board of Directors!

🌟 Meet Lark Morin! 🌟
Lark is a passionate advocate for health professions training in Hawaii’s youth. Currently serving as a Statewide Health Education Specialist for the University of Hawaii, Lark has previously worked at the John A. Burns School of Medicine and served as Statewide Director of pre-health programs. He’s also the Founder and Board Chairman of HOSA FHP Alumni & Professional Association Hawaii (HAPAH), supporting aspiring healthcare professionals.
Lark is a graduate of Lahainaluna High School and holds a Master's in Organizational Management. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership. His extensive volunteer work and dedication to education make him an invaluable addition to our board, and he’s excited to contribute to BISAC’s youth programs and outreach.

🌟 Meet Michele Clarke! 🌟
Michele recently retired as an Account Executive with Brown & Brown Insurance after nearly 50 years in the industry. She now serves in a consultative role. Throughout her career, she’s learned the value of business operations, common sense, and the golden rule.
Originally from Denver, Michele moved to Hawaii in 1981 and raised her son in Puna as a single parent. She has seen firsthand the challenges many youth face, and BISAC’s work in helping them lead productive lives deeply resonates with her.
