❄️ With winter weather approaching, please take time now to prepare.

Our EMS crews will be on standby and ready to respond, however hazardous conditions may cause response delays.

Please clear walkways and driveways when possible and call 911 only for true medical emergencies so we can remain available for those who need us most.

Stay safe and check on neighbors when you can.

Last night we held our yearly company dinner, where we had the opportunity to recognize several members who went above and beyond in service to the Borough of Keansburg and our community. It was a great night that allowed everyone to come together outside of operations and enjoy each other’s company.

The awards were presented by the Captain and president, who are truly honored and proud of the dedication, professionalism, and commitment shown by every member of this organization.

In 2025, our members handled 1,877 calls, requiring mutual aid only four times due to simultaneous second calls. The level of commitment and dedication shown by this organization is truly unprecedented.

πŸš‘ Ambulance Transport ClarificationπŸš‘

There seems to be some confusion regarding patients dictating where our ambulance must transport them. We’d like to clarify how this works.

Under New Jersey EMS standards, ambulances transport patients to the closest appropriate emergency department based on medical need.
Patient preference alone, including β€œI always go there” or β€œmy doctor is there” does not require EMS to go to a farther hospital.

For most emergencies, that means Bayshore or Riverview, both fully capable emergency departments.

As a volunteer, non-billing EMS service, unnecessary long transports can leave our town without an available ambulance.

🚨 When specialty care is medically required (Certain stroke calls & heart attack calls, major trauma, burns, maternity, etc.), patients are transported to the appropriate specialty center along side Advance Life Support services. Which are usually Jersey Shore or Monmouth Medical Center.

If there is no medical need to go farther, options include:
β€’ Closest appropriate hospital by ambulance
β€’ Private vehicle
β€’ Declining ambulance transport

This is legal, medically appropriate, and standard across New Jersey EMS.

Thank you for supporting your local volunteer EMS

πŸš‘ Volunteerism is at an all-time low, and many towns around us are struggling to staff ambulances when emergencies happen.

At Keansburg EMS, we’re proud of our dedicated volunteers who do everything they can to make sure an ambulance is available when our community needs one. But we still need help.

The more volunteers we have, the more the workload is shared, allowing our members to spend more time at home with their families while still keeping our town covered.

This is a 100% volunteer service. We don’t get paid. We do it for the community.

If you can spare 12 hours a week and have a valid driver’s license, you could be the perfect candidate to join our team and make a real difference.

Volunteer benefits include:
LOSAP retirement benefits
Free EMT and continuing education training
Hands on emergency medical experience
Flexible scheduling around work and family
Serving and protecting your local community
Gaining valuable skills for healthcare or public safety careers
