Kearney, Neb. (October 16, 2025) — Nebraska NetFest, a weekend of exciting competition in volleyball and pickleball, will take place this weekend, October 17-19, in Kearney.

The NetFest Singles & Mixed Doubles Pickleball Championships will begin Friday, October 17, with Singles competition, followed by Mixed Doubles on Saturday and Sunday. A total of 48 players are registered to participate.

The NetFest Volleyball State Championships will welcome 72 teams. Teams in the 3rd-6th divisions will compete in a one-day tournament on Saturday, followed by the 7th/8th division on Sunday.

The brand-new Kearney SportsPlex will serve as the venue for both events. For schedules and more information, visit NebraskaSportsCouncil.com.

Nebraska NetFest Pickleball and Volleyball is presented by Visit Kearney and hosted by Kearney SportsPlex and the City of Kearney Park and Recreation. Contributing partners include AKRS Equipment / John Deere, New West Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Surgery, Edgewater Insurance + Real Estate, The Chicken Coop, MCL Construction and Younes Hospitality.

Nebraska NetFest is organized by the Nebraska Sports Council, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing quality competition for amateur athletes of all ages and skill levels while promoting healthy and active lifestyles.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Scott Kratzer - one of the very first employees of New West Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Surgery and a beloved member of our New West family. Scott’s loss is deeply felt by all who knew him. His life was a testament to compassion, dedication, and a service to others. Through his knowledge, skill, and unwavering desire to help people, Scott touched countless lives and left an indelible mark on all of the communities he was a part of. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, and strength, - values he lived by every day. However you knew him, Scott’s impact will continue to live on in the hearts of those he helped and inspired.

We couldn’t have asked for better weather—it was absolutely perfect. What made it even more special was hearing all the stories people shared about Scott… and there were plenty!
