I’m Johannah, a local dietitian passionate about helping people build healthy, balanced lives. One big piece of that is managing stress and staying active. That’s why I want to raise awareness about Connected Families Counseling’s new Walk and Talk Therapy—therapy sessions combined with walking. It’s a great way to support your mental health while moving your body, right here in Kearney with skilled therapists.

Did you know that therapy doesn’t have to happen on a couch?
At Connected Families Counseling, Brittany offers Walk-and-Talk Therapy for kids (ages 5+), teens, and young adults. Sometimes it looks like walking side-by-side through nature, other times it's sitting outside, tossing a ball back and forth, or simply breathing in fresh air while working through emotions.
🌱 Why it works:
- Nature provides a calming, nonjudgmental space
- Movement helps ease nervous energy and anxiety
- Walking is a form of bilateral stimulation, which can help the brain process emotions and trauma more effectively (similar to EMDR techniques)
- It's often easier to talk while moving than sitting face-to-face
- Kids and teens especially benefit from less pressure and more freedom during sessions
Whether it’s sunshine or a light breeze, sometimes the best breakthroughs happen outside the office walls.
