How lucky we are to have had someone so special choose us...for 44 years! Sheri Heath, oh how we are going to miss you!
This week we had the pleasure of celebrating Sheri Heath as she moves into retirement.
Sheri began her career at Family Practice Associates in 1981, working with several doctors over the years including Dr. Rude, Dr. Myers and most recently Dr. Herbig. She has cared for thousands of patients, served as a mentor for a countless number of new nurses, and survived more changes in healthcare than most of us can imagine. And, every single day, we could count on her to bring her best.
She's kind, knowledgeable , compassionate, funny and once-in-awhile, just a bit spicy! The perfect combination!
If you know Sheri and would like to leave her some well wishes or share your memories and stories, we would love to have you do so!
Sheri, we love ya'! While we are sad for us, we are so excited for you! You've earned this!

We are excited for Dr. Anna Bock to join this wonderful group of family physicians!
From left to right: Dr. Kyle Myers; Dr. Abby Richardson; Dr. Robert Messbarger; Dr. Amy Herbig; Dr. Kassandra Davis; Dr. Jami Pritschau; and Dr. Jessica Hatch.

Woo-hoo! It's July! And, that means that Dr. Anna Bock is officially starting her full-time practice at our clinic!
We couldn't be more excited to announce that Dr. Bock will start seeing patients on July 29, offering family medicine and obstetric services.
If Dr. Bock looks familiar, it's because she has spent the last two years with us as a resident of the UNMC Advanced Family Medicine Training Program. During this time, she saw patients by appointment and in our walk-in clinic, and also trained under other specialists in Kearney.
Dr. Bock is accepting new patients. Please call us at 308-865-2767 to learn more or to schedule your appointment. It's a great time to schedule back-to-school physicals!
We are so glad to have you, Dr. Bock!

Protect your child from measles. If you are traveling internationally or to affected areas, talk to your provider to ensure you are covered.

This morning, Nebraska DHHS confirmed the first case of measles in Nebraska. We would like to take a moment to remind you of some facts regarding measles:
- Measles symptoms include high fever, cough, runny nose, red and watery eyes, and a maculopapular rash, as pictured below in CDC stock photos (appears two to four days after symptoms begin. Starts at the hairline, spreads downward, to face, neck and trunk).
- If you think you think you may have measles, call the clinic before coming in. A nurse will ask you questions ahead of time, and will need to make preparations for your arrival.
- The measles virus is transmitted through direct contact with infectious droplets or by airborne spread when an infected person breathes, coughs, or sneezes, and can remain in the air and on surfaces for up to two hours after the infected person leaves the area. If ten people, who are not vaccinated, are exposed to someone with the measles, nine of them will catch it.
- Measles is almost entirely preventable through vaccination, and was declared eliminated in the US in 2000. MMR vaccines are safe and highly effective, with two doses being 97% effective against measles (one dose is 93% effective). When more than 95% of the people in a community are vaccinated, more people are protected through herd immunity.
- Yes, it is possible for someone who is appropriately vaccinated for their age to get the measles, however it is rare, the illness is usually milder, and they are less likely to spread it.
- If you or your children are traveling internationally or to affected areas, it is a good idea to know your vaccine status. More information will be available on our website at www.kearneyfpa.com.

The Mission of Family Practice Associates is to serve our patients by providing quality medical care in a respectful, kind, compassionate, and cost-effective manner.
At Family Practice Associates, your doctor is part of a Patient-Centered Medical Home. This means that we work closely with our patients and other medical professionals to help ensure that each patient is provided the right care at the right time, and in the right setting. We consider each patient’s individual needs and ensure our patients are full partners in making decisions about their care.
At our clinic, we strive to assure you receive the tests and screenings that help us identify problems early and focus on keeping you healthy. We offer a walk-in clinic for immediate care needs, such as illness and injury. We have Care Coordinators on staff who help patients transition from the hospital back to the home and clinic environment. Our Diabetes Educator assists patients in understanding their condition and learning ways to effectively manage their blood sugars to reduce complications. And, our Community Health Worker assists patients in accessing resources in their communities that will help them overcome obstacles to a healthy life. She also walks patients through end-of-life care decisions so their wishes can be documented for their families and providers.
At Family Practice Associates, we believe it is important to know you and provide you the assistance you need through local staff. Our phones are always answered by a person, not a machine, and our Billing Staff works right here for us. We want to know our patients and be your Patient-Centered Medical Home from birth through adulthood!
To schedule an appointment, please call us at 308-865-2767.
