Bikes, E-bikes, and E-scooters are becoming more common across Kearney — and we want to make sure everyone knows how to ride safely and legally.
Under Ordinance No. 8766, effective October 29, 2025, the City of Kearney regulates the operation of bicycles, Class I–III electric bicycles, and electric foot scooters on public streets, trails, and sidewalks.
The ordinance defines where these devices may be used, establishes basic safety requirements, and outlines prohibited behaviors such as careless or reckless operation.
Kearney Police Department has launched a new webpage designed to help residents understand where bikes, e-bikes, and scooters can be operated, what local laws apply, and how to ride safely and responsibly. Our goal is to reduce accidents, prevent injuries, and keep Kearney’s streets, trails, and sidewalks safe for everyone.
