Public service announcement for elders, guides, mentors, facilitators, and teachers, etc.

If you are offering workshops, classes, ceremonies, plant medicines, or teachings rooted in African ATRs, Indigenous traditions, ancestral practices, or spiritual lineages, please be mindful of who you are taking on and who you are teaching.

Not everyone who is curious is meant to be shown or taught these practices.
Not everyone who wants access deserves it.
Some people are chasing titles, aesthetics, and clout.

They want to run before they’ve walked.
They want to teach before they’ve healed.
They want to represent traditions they’ve never committed to, never sat with, never been accountable to.

Our traditions are not trends.
Our medicines are not content.
Our customs are not something to be handed out for popularity, money, or validation.

There is real work required before someone is ready to carry these teachings and years of healing, discipline, humility, service, and consistent relationship with Spirit. If that foundation isn’t there, access should not be either.

Be selective.
Be protective.
Ask questions.
Trust your discernment.
Guard what was entrusted to you by your elders, your ancestors, and your lineages.
Everything is not for everybody and that’s not gatekeeping, that’s respect.

Today at Brujita’s we were gifted something special.

My elder in plant medicine/curanderismo of Peruvian lineage visited the space and brought real cacao medicine, the kind you feel in your body, your chest, your spirit.
This wasn’t performative, it wasn’t trendy, it wasn’t watered down. It was rooted. It was emotional. It was grounding. It was honest.
People cried. People softened. People remembered themselves.

That’s what happens when the medicine is real and the guidance is coming from true eldership, dedication, consistency, and lived practice. This is what real mentorship and real guidance looks like. Not new age. Not whitewashed. Indigenous. Ancestral. Sacred in the way our ancestors intended.

I want to give deep thanks to my elder Rocio for trusting my space and my community, and for sharing her medicine with so much integrity and love. And thank you to Koshi, her invited guest, whose shamanic drumming carried us, grounded us, and moved the room in ways words can’t explain.

Thank you both for pouring into my collective, my people, and this space. What a beautiful Saturday of healing before we all go back into the cold and this coming storm. We are leaving nourished, protected, and held.

It’s for people who are actually ready to heal.
Before spirituality comes shadow work.

The tuning fork carries vibration through the energetic layers, moving past surface tension and into deeper fields where stagnation lives. Sound reminds the nervous system of its original rhythm, helping energy reorganize itself naturally 🌀

The herbs act as an escoba an ancestral sweep 🌾 Each plant holds its own medicine, its own memory. As they move through the field, they lift, clear, and protect, removing what does not belong and restoring spiritual hygiene. 🔥
