**UPDATE**
Keller Independent School District Parents and Students,

Keller ISD Counseling invites families to spend an evening with bestselling author Jeff Selingo for a conversation about what he learned after immersing himself in the world of college admissions to answer the question on the minds of teenagers and their parents – How do colleges select their freshman class?

This event will now be a virtual-only event and will no longer be hosted at the Central High School Fine Arts Center. The event will take place via a Zoom Webinar from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 25, and also be available to view for the seven days afterward on KellerISD.net.

Click here to register in advance for the webinar. https://www.kellerisd.net/site/Default.aspx?PageID=2&DomainID=4 /20220125/event/61510

In this conversation with Keller ISD Director of Counseling Programs Dr. Sandra Benavidez, Selingo will dispel the entrenched notions of how to compete and win at the admissions game, reveal why families have much to gain by broadening their notion of what qualifies as a "good" college, and explain how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted admissions.

Other topics discussed include the role of academic rigor, rank, GPA, and other criteria in the college admissions process.

Selingo is a journalist and higher education author whose most recent book, "Who Gets In And Why: A Year Inside College Admissions" gives readers a peek behind the curtain of elite college admissions. In writing the book, Selingo spent a year embedded in the selection process at the University of Washington, Emory University, and Davidson College, and followed a group of high school seniors through their college search. Throughout the book, he introduces you to the players behind the scenes – the marketers, the financial aid consultants, and the rankers who have a role in who gets in and why.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to get a unique look into the college admissions process as you plan for your future.
