At the First International Tele’Drama Conference 2020, I will be presenting on
“Combining Play Theory and Psychodrama, Easy as 1, 2, 3”
On Saturday, August 8, from 2PM- 5PM Central Time. See workshop description below.

Workshop Description:

While observing children at play in a park in Vienna, Austria, Jacob Moreno, the founder of Psychodrama, became inspired by the spontaneity and creativity children utilize to work out issues through play.

Psychodrama was created to help adults learn to use their creativity and spontaneity to make changes. We recognize the power of play and use psychodrama in children’s groups. And for you Play Therapists, you will see how Psychodrama is Play Therapy for adults.

In this workshop, we will be able to recognize how Psychodrama is seen in individual play therapy settings with children, otherwise known as Psychodrama ‘a Deux. This recognition will help us deepen our understanding of the internal life of the little people (sometimes as young as 3 years old) in individual play therapy where the child is both the protagonist and the director.

We will also see how to work with Littles & their caregivers on Zoom.

Come to see, learn, and have fun while we utilize didactic methods, stories, and experience the power of play on zoom.

Through Telehealth, I will most likely see the younger ones with their parent/caregivers!!

The annual ASGPP conference will be held in Chicago, Illinois this year in April. I will be presenting a workshop on Dr. Seuss at this conference which is 80 miles from my hometown of Ottawa, Illinois!

Who knew when I left Ottawa at 19 years of age that I would become a licensed professional counselor, well trained in counseling adults, in Play Therapy and in Psychodrama.

In my mind, play therapy addresses children by communicating in a language children understand – the carefree spontaneity and creativity of play. I love to intervene early in one’s life so as to shift a trajectory that has gone awry.

And Psychodrama is helping us reconnect with our own inner child’s spontaneity and creativity that allows us the freedom to lighten our spirit & to lift our trajectories no matter how old we are.

And the best part about all of this is THIS -
I absolutely love the work that I do and to know that I am pretty darn good at it!!

My favorite quote is from Carl Jung :

“Learn your theories as well as you can, but put them aside when you touch the miracle of a living soul!!!”

I am currently in Varna Bulgaria and will be presenting at The 1st Balkan Conference on Psychodrama soon !!
How fortunate I am to have this opportunity! This has been an amazing trip so far!!
