Has this not been the best summer ever?
I have been working hard but feeling grateful. Wish I could have had the Healing Seed / Island Time Shop open more this year and wanted to give a shout out and a big thank you to my weekend shop help, Kasey, for showing up when she could! Love that girl!! And the amazing Nathan for helping get the treatment room ready for me every morning. It made my life so much easier. I wish I could clone both of them.
With the past several years being a challenge to find anyone to work, these two wonderful souls showed up and did it.
This year I hired 2 sets of 2 therapist which notified me the day before they were supposed to arrive, that they weren't coming. And 2 other separate therapist that canceled about a week before (total of 6 hired but never worked one day)
I also hired 4 other retail employees that did the same thing the day before arrival. One other on the day of arrival just never showed up and let me know weeks after they found another job once they reached the island LOL.
Begging locals hasn't worked either, but I don't blame them...summer is for fun if you don't need to work!
Next year is another year but grateful we made it through this one with a dislocated rib in the spring and recovering from gastrointestinal damage from Feb covid. Thanks also to all the restaurants who accommodated my new unusual eating habits so I could heal.
I feel very lucky to be surrounded by wonderful friends and island neighbors... and just wanted to say thank you to everyone for supporting me and The Little Healing Room so I could continue to care for islanders, seasonals and visitors and injured workers one more year. I feel like the luckiest person alive.
