Please join us to support the family and finally be able to lay Herbert F. March to rest, after a long 81 years.
Tech-4 March was in the US Army Airforce. March was captured and made a Prisoner of War during World War II, following the Bataan Death March. March was a member of Headquarters Squadron, 24th Pursuit Group, when Japanese forces invaded the Philippine Islands in December 1941. After an intense fight, US troops surrendered.
Thousands of US and Filipino Service members were captured and forced into Prisoner of war camps. Service members were held at the Cabanatuan POW Camp #1 following the 65-mile Bataan Death March. According to the prison camp records, March succumbed to complications of dysentery and malaria on July 26, 1942, he was then buried along with other deceased prisoners of the Cabanatuan Camp Cemetery in Common Grave 225.
March will be laid to rest at Kerns Bozorth Cemetery in Woodland, Washington on Sunday May 5, 2024 at 11am, all are welcomed to honor our fallen warrior. Woodland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
