We have had alot of questions about Volcanos in our house recently
I found this posted friend of a teacher friend adapted a little you can change as needed to make a social story or help with your childs questions, especially when they want to know the plan.
“Sometimes, the Earth can make a big noise and shake. This is called an earthquake. Sometimes, the Earth can also make a big fire and send hot rocks and ash into the sky. This is called a volcanic eruption.
When there is a volcanic eruption, it is important to stay safe. If you are in a place where there is a volcano, you may need to leave.
When you hear about a volcanic eruption, the first thing you should do is listen to adults. They will tell you what to do.
If you need to leave, you will go to a safe place. This could be a school, a shelter, or someone's house.
At the safe place, you will wait for the volcano to calm down. You will listen to the adults and follow their instructions.
It's important to wear long sleeves and long pants to protect your skin from ash and rocks.
If you are outside, it is important to wear a mask and eye protection to protect your lungs from the ash.
When the volcano is calm, you will go back home. You will be safe and warm.
Remember, volcanoes can be scary, but if you listen to adults and follow the safety rules, you will be safe.
If you are scared, you can talk to a trusted adult. They will help you feel better”
