Finding loving homes and rescues for the stray and unwanted animals of Duplin County. Space is limited, so every adoption and rescue truly saves a life. 🐾❤️
We invite you to come to view the animals here: https://www.petango.com/DUPLINCOUNTYANIMALSERVICES We will help you find the best-suited animal for you and your family. We do require home checks prior to adoption. An application can be found here: http://www.duplincountync.com/wp-content/uploads/DCAS-Adoption-Application.pdf. and emailed back to dcanimals@duplincountync.com. We also require two (2) forms of I.D. with your correct physical address, one of which requires a photo i.d. We accept debit/credit or cash. All the stray animals here are required by law to be here 72 hours before adoption. Once you fill out the adoption application, please allow 48 business hours for processing. Include any vet references you may have. If you do not own your home and land, you must have appropriate paperwork stating animal consent agreements from the owner. If you reside on base, you will need written consent from Command. By filling out this application, you will be consenting to a home check by your local animal control agency. If your application is approved, you will pick your available pet out. An adoption contract will be signed for every adopted pet. Typically, the animal is old enough for alteration and will be scheduled by Duplin County Animal Control at Our Contracted Vet with the New Owners' knowledge of the appointed time. Please remember if your pet has had surgery, the pet cannot get wet for 10 days and must be in a clean, closed, air-controlled environment to heal properly. We have a 14 kennel shelter with 819 sq. miles and a population of 60,000 people with 7-10 pets per person, with many strays and owner surrenders... There is nowhere to house them nor support their care on the budget we are given, or any budget. 🐾 Meet Daffney!
Daffney is a beautiful, sweet girl who just needs a little patience and understanding. 💕 She’s a bit timid and prefers to approach you on her own terms, but once she feels safe, she loves attention.
She enjoys the sound of squeaky toys (even if she’s not quite sure what to do with them) and seems to prefer people over dogs—though she gets along fine with other pups. Unlike most strays, Daffney walks well on a leash! Fun fact: she’s actually the proud mama of the “T” litter posted earlier.
✅ Why You’ll Love Daffney:
• Gentle and sweet
• Walks well on a leash
• Dog-friendly but loves people most
❗ Special Notes:
Daffney is a little shy and will need a patient home to help her feel secure.
🎉 Already neutered, microchipped, and ready to go! Adoption fee is just $40 — what a steal for a lifetime of love! 🐾
🐾 Meet Nolan!
Nolan is a laid-back, chill guy who just wants a cozy home to spend his golden years. 💕 He enjoys the sound of squeaky toys (even if he’s not quite sure what to do with them) and loves people most of all—though he’s fine with other dogs too.
Unlike most strays, Nolan walks well on a leash and is already microchipped and neutered! His previous owner has been contacted and is aware he’s here, but Nolan still needs a loving family to give him the second chance he deserves.
✅ Why You’ll Love Nolan:
• Calm and easygoing
• Loves people and enjoys walks
• Already microchipped and neutered
❗ Special Notes:
Nolan is 7 years old and will need a patient, loving home.
🐾 Meet Jagger!
Jagger may be shy at first, but once he warms up, he’s a total cuddle bug who just wants to be loved! 💕 According to his foster, Jagger is great with other dogs (big and small) and doesn’t mind cats. He loves playing with toys, running around outside with other dogs, and snuggling with people.
Special notes: Jagger is not house-trained yet, needs basic training like most strays, and he does not like being crated. Since he’s currently in foster care, any potential adopter or rescue will need to notify the shelter in advance so the foster can bring him in for a meet-and-greet. Please give Jagger the chance he deserves!
✅ Why You’ll Love Jagger:
• Sweet and affectionate once he trusts you
• Dog-friendly and cat-tolerant
• Loves toys and outdoor play
❗ Special Notes:
Not house-trained, dislikes crates, and needs basic training. Foster must be contacted before meeting Jagger.
🐾 Meet Neva!
Neva is a beautiful, sweet, and loving girl who just wants to be your big lap dog! 💕 She likes other dogs just fine, but she LOVES people even more. Her favorite thing? Being held, loved on, and getting all the pets she can!
Like most strays, Neva will need some basic training, and she does freeze up when a leash is put on, so a patient and gentle approach will help her feel secure. Please give Neva the chance she deserves to find a loving home!
✅ Why You’ll Love Neva:
• Sweet and affectionate
• Loves being held and cuddled
• Dog-friendly but adores people most
❗ Special Notes:
Neva freezes when leashed and will need positive reinforcement training.
🐾 Meet Maxwell!
Maxwell is a beautiful, shy, and submissive boy who just needs a patient and understanding home. 💕 He trusts dogs more than people, which is why we believe he’d do best in a household with another dog to help him feel secure.
Maxwell enjoys the sound of squeaky toys but isn’t quite sure what to do with them yet. Like most strays, he’ll need basic training—and he freezes up when a leash is put on—so a gentle approach is key. Please give Maxwell the chance he deserves to blossom into the loving companion we know he can be!
✅ Why You’ll Love Maxwell:
• Sweet and gentle
• Dog-friendly and would thrive with a canine companion
• Young and ready to learn with the right guidance
❗ Special Notes:
Maxwell is shy and needs a patient home. He freezes when leashed and will require positive reinforcement training.
Observation of Martin Luther King DCAS will be closed Monday 1-19-26. We will reopen 1-20-26.

If you’re looking for a fun-loving, high-energy companion, Orbit is your guy! 💕 This talkative pup is full of personality and loves people and dogs alike. He’s like the Energizer Bunny—he can keep going and going! Orbit enjoys chasing toys (even if he’s not quite sure what to do once he catches them) and loves to jump, so he’d thrive with an active family who can keep up with his playful spirit.
Like most strays, Orbit will need some basic training, but his enthusiasm and love for life make him a joy to be around. Please give Orbit the chance he deserves!
✅ Why You’ll Love Orbit:
• Fun, playful, and full of energy

We have a 14 kennel shelter with 819 sq miles and population of 60,000 people with 7-10 pets per person, with many strays and owner surrenders.... There is no where to house them nor support their care on the budget we are given, or any budget. We are too small of a shelter to be accepted into a grant program, so we search day in and day out for a place for them, we beg, we plead and most importantly we try to keep everyone informed so they have an opportunity to make a difference, where we cannot, our volunteers and supporters make such a huge difference for these furbabies. You may donate below if you would like to help get a larger facility. A larger building would bring so many changes for these animals, allowing them more time to find placement. As of right now, with our tiny building, they are only required the minimum state law requirement of 72 hours. However, we give them 125 hours total to try to find a better alternative. The building fills faster than people can get them out. Euthanasia is a sad truth here but with all the help, the village has performed miracle after miracle for these animals to have a second chance. For the ones we were unable to help, we wear on our sleeves. Help us make a change!!
