Robert James "Bob" Wicker, age 87, of Kendallville, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. Bob was born on April 25, 1937, in Mousie, Kentucky to John and Flossie Wicker. In 1954, Bob graduated from Hindman High School, Hindman, Kentucky. Bob’s dad moved the family to Kendallville in 1954 for work where he later met and married Norma Kay Wert on March 7, 1959, at the Methodist Church in Kendallville. Bob worked at various jobs and learned tool and die and became a toolmaker. In 1975, they founded their own business B&J Specialty which has since grown into a multiple business enterprise including B&J Medical and B&J International which now employs close to 300 people. He was the hardest worker ever and loved God and his family fiercely. He was passionate about suppling food and toilet paper to food pantries. He also loved gardening, cutting wood, fishing, hunting and running his Ebay store.
Survivors include:
His wife of 65 years, Norma Wicker of Kendallville.
One son, John and Lee Wicker of Kendallville.
Two brothers, Randolph Wicker and Bobby Wicker.
Two brother and sisters-in-law, Bill and Susie Wallen and Ben and Susan Wert and many cousins.
9 grandchildren: Keith Wilson of Kendallville; Jessica (Ryan) Slone of Auburn; Kaihla (Braden) Hines of Huntertown; Shawn (Whitney) Wilson of Wawaka; Collin (Liam) Wilson of Nashville, Tennessee; Anissa (Nate) Mueller of Huntertown; Anna (Zach) Brazel of LaOtto; Autumn (Griffin) Parks of Albion; and Faith Nakayima Wicker of Kendallville.
11 great-grandchildren: Elly Cossairt, Charlie Streb, Gentry Wilson, Bennett Mueller, River Hines, Cree Wilson, Mila Hines, Navy Parks, Mallen and Millie Brazel and Isla Parks.
Close family and friends Ze, AJ, Elysia and Alani Heureuse, Chloe, Deirdre, Brian, Fiona Schoonover, Jennepher Nansamba and caretaker Marcy Gooden
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Flossie Wicker; three brothers, Leo, Clyde and Phillip; and two sisters, Ruby and Nellie.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 9, 2024, from 3:00 - 7:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Hite Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Orange Cemetery near Rome City.
Preferred memorials are to Albion Food Pantry.
