Therapy is working with (Patient/Mr. Anderson) in the therapy gym to improve deficits of things like self-care, mobility and safety awareness. Today we are working on standing balance, leg and arm strength, eye-hand coordination, fine motor skills of hands, activity tolerance/endurance and safety awareness during transitional movements (the movements of turning and/or repositioning body for tasks). We are utilizing a memory match board that was made to help with these specific issues that Mr. Anderson is experiencing at this time.

Mr. Anderson was recently unable to stand up and walk without assistance and had experienced a series of falls. Today, Mr. Anderson is working on new goals to walk using a rolling walker which is what he was previously using for mobility assistance. Mr. Anderson is very close to reaching his goal and is consistent with plan of care to reach these goals.

For these types of deficits, we have different types of tasks that include games, exercise equipment, learning strategies utilizing modern equipment, technology and sometimes imagination. Mr. Anderson has come a long way in the last few months and takes advantage of his time in therapy.

Success stories like Mr. Anderson's is what makes our job less of a job and more of a love for humanity. The more we love what we do, the better the outcome is for everyone!

Plates hit the tables and it smelled like Bourbon Street in here. 💜💚💛

Today our Dietary team brought the Mardi Gras spirit straight to Kenedy Health & Rehab with a full Fat Tuesday feast — and they did not hold back.

Residents enjoyed:
• Cajun glazed pork shank
• Jambalaya rice
• Fried okra
• Crawfish cornbread
• Individual King Cake

You could see it — the colors, the beads, the smiles. Food isn’t just nutrition in a skilled nursing facility. It’s memory. It’s culture. It’s something to look forward to.

Our Dietary Department surprised staff with a sweet Valentine’s treat — Make Your Own Mini Pancakes!

🥞Fresh mini pancakes topped with strawberries, chocolate chips, caramel, whipped cream… build it how you like it.
So yummy!

In a building that runs on teamwork, long shifts, and a whole lot of heart, these little moments matter. We’re so thankful for a Dietary team that takes care of our staff the same way we care for our residents.

The kitchen was already smelling like syrup and sausage before the sun came up ❤️

This morning our Dietary Department served up a little Valentine’s love on a plate. Fluffy mini pancakes drizzled with sweet strawberry sauce and cream, heart-shaped sausage made with care, and perfectly cooked fried eggs sprinkled with cracked pepper. Fresh fruit added a bright pop of color to make it extra special.

It’s the small touches that make a big difference. A warm breakfast, a festive plate, and a team that takes pride in making our residents feel celebrated. 🍽️

We’re so grateful for our Dietary staff who turn everyday meals into moments. 💕

It's a pleasure to be able to celebrate life.This week we had two birthdays. Mr. Silva had a surprise visit from family & Mr. Burciaga's daughter sent him door dash goodies! We had cake, punch & had fun with Sticky Heart Poker Chip Fishing. A huge Thank You to all staff and residents that joined in on singing them Happy Birthday. It sure makes them feel great!

Tectile is a sense we all relate to & unknowingly desire on a daily. It's rooted in human nature. Today, besides our usual breath of fresh air, we incorporated folding clothing protectors into our day. They reminisced about helping as kids, as husbands and well being spoiled and who's job it was. Sure enjoyed hearing their stories. Surprisenly, they are looking forward to our next session!
