Just received this thoughtful note from yesterday patient 🥰

Rather than hope it goes without saying, I think I should say it (or perhaps say it again):

You are truly one of the most amazing people I have ever known.

1. You run your own business

2. You have an uncanny sense of who to hire -finding others who can be an extension of yourself - to help care for your patients the way you want them to be cared for.

3. Despite holding tools that can inflict pain, you have a personality that breaks through the mask and draws people to you. I am terribly disappointed in myself for my recent high level of need for your services, but if I had to make a joke, it wouldn’t be hard to convince anyone who knows you that my frequent visits are really because I just love being around you.

4. My mom was very sick from the time I was four months old and she dropped me on my head. She was the smartest, most educated, most capable and most independant of her family and friend group. She told me when I was too young to understand that the hardest thing she ever had to do was to accept the fact that she could no longer do anything for herself. MS hade made her completely dependent upon other people. She realized that for whatever reason, that was the life God gave her and she was going to find a way to do that well. She transformed into the person that others would love to care for and would be known, among other things, as a good patient. As a result, it was important to me to learn to be a good patient. (I also had the benefit of a grandfather who taught people how to be an awful patient, someone that no one wanted to care for.)

So laying as still as possible and following all of the instructions to turn my head this way, hold still, not swallow, etc. is done with the intention of being a good patient. But while I lay in your chair, I listen to everything you told Linda yesterday and her various predecessors on so many other procedures. You always teach as you direct and explain your instructions to further develop their own skill sets and become better able to help you care for your patients.

And because I am so taken with the long list of traits and other attributes that make you, well, you, I sometimes forget that you are an outstanding and gifted practitioner.

All that AND a beautiful blonde with great eyebrows.

PS. As life goes by, authenticity grows in importance. Only someone who cares with her whole heart can take a (handsome) face in both hands, adjust it so slightly to the right and communicate how well I am being cared for without a single word needed like you can.onnt
