🍂🍁We can feel it in the air that autumn has arrived in the PNW and at NPT! 🍎🎃

As the weather starts to cool down, autumn is the perfect time to set fresh goals for growth and development. In speech/language and occupational therapy, autumn provides wonderful opportunities to support children’s skills in everyday activities:

✨ Speech & Language – Talk about fall changes you see on a walk (“The leaf is red,” “The pumpkin is big”) to build vocabulary and descriptive language.

✨ Fine Motor Skills – Leaf rubbings, pumpkin crafts, and buttoning jackets all strengthen hand muscles.

✨ Sensory Exploration – Crunching leaves, smelling spices, warm cider, or feeling textures (i.e. smooth pumpkins) can encourage sensory regulation.

Every season brings new opportunities for learning, and we’re here to help your child thrive! 🍁
