Winter is upon us,
here are somethings to consider and precautions to help Seniors stay warm, safe and prevent illness during this cold snap:

1. Stay Hydrated-especially if you are taking medications and or are sick it helps to flush the body and keep it hydrated.
2. Bundle up- Layers are good as well as wearing hats ,scarves and gloves
3. Protect your skin with moisturizer and lotions to avoid cracks and dry skin and infections.
4. Avoid Slips and falls whether indoors or out- good foot wear with good traction and non-skid soles.
5. Be smart and aware of Electric Blankets and Space Heaters and heating pads get ones that have automatic shut offs.
6. Seniors should try to keep Indoor temps between 68-70.

September is National Emergency Preparedness month! Now is a great time to Press your Pendant and test your unit. Here at the SafetyLine office we are checking/replacing batteries in our smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors and flashlights. Share with your friends and neighbors, it's the perfect time to get prepared before the Winter ahead.
