To the woman who wants to fix everything,

I know you’re exhausted.
I know you’re overwhelmed.

You’re trying to take care of everything for everyone, never once taking notice that no one is taking care of you.

I need to tell you something. It is not your responsibility to take care of everyone, Love. I know it feels like life has taught you that it is, but it’s not. Deep down, you know this is true.

It’s unachievable to be everything to everyone.

I know you want nothing more than to make everything right for those in your life. And bless you for trying. But the truth is - You just can’t.

That doesn’t mean you’re failing.

It simply means you’re human.

You can’t save all those who are drowning by giving your one life vest away, so you have to protect it at all costs, Love. You have to be okay with the fact that sometimes people are going to feel heavy things, and sometimes people are going to experience heavy things. Sometimes the best gift we can give ourselves is the permission to step back and believe that everything will work out in the end. We have to trust that God knows what He’s doing - While also realizing that we can’t do His work.

We have to be okay with not making everything all better, all of the time. There are things and people and situations that we have no control over. Let’s stop running ourselves to the ground by pretending that we do.

Do what you can, when you can. Be kind. Be empathetic. Be a light in a sometimes dark world.

But also be okay with resting, taking time for yourself, and releasing control of the things around you.

We can’t break ourselves trying to fix everything else.

Remember that, okay?

Love Always,
Heather

The Wayfinder Wellness and Psychotherapy Services team is very excited to announce that Emily Crocker has moved on to the second stage of her graduate student internship and is looking to add 15 new clients who are looking for low or no cost therapy services to her caseload!

Emily is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Southern Maine. She has a Bachelor’s degree in English, which helps to inform her approaches to the therapeutic experience.

Emily believes that while each approach will vary based on client needs, the core of her work focuses on the belief that healing is a holistic experience; it involves working on many parts of a greater whole. In sessions, Emily’s goal is to hold space for her clients while working together to navigate the client’s emotional landscape and work toward self actualization.

Emily strives to assist clients in building unconditional love for oneself, regardless of how they show up at any moment, on any day. In doing so, she seeks to focus on humanizing ourselves as opposed to problematizing our thoughts and patterns.
Emily practices an eclectic method of therapy, utilizing somatic mind/body techniques, existentialism, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed approaches.

One of Emily’s major passions is social justice and equitable experiences for all. In relation to therapy work, Emily believes that understanding the concepts of how society shapes and influences us is a major part toward healing and growth.

Emily is available to see adult clients virtually for individual psychotherapy at a rate of $50 a session and has a sliding scale fee for those who are in need. Please visit our website to fill out a new client contact form if you are a potential client interested in setting up a free consultation.
