Winter in New England is so cold! But it doesn't have to be blah for you. The cold days are ending and before you know what you'll be in this lush beautiful landscape of summer, and you will thank God for the winter that we had because of well-watered ground!

So take this season, because it's coming to a close very quickly, and just enjoy the quiet.

Aside from my health and fitness career, I work full-time in hospitality and marketing and it is so busy in the summer that there is barely time to enjoy quiet. So I am so elated, albeit annoyed, but elated to have moments of pure quiet.

It's almost the most wonderful time of the year. And I usually make a big batch of my favorite comfrey salve. It's great for aching bones and joints, as well as a deeply penetrating moisturizer for the feet and hands. I very recently pulled my lower back muscle and I was out of commission for a bit. Luckily, I had a batch of this and religiously applied. Within hours I felt relieved of pain, allowing me more mobility and quicker healing.

I infuse comfrey and rosemary in olive oil and Shea butter, no higher temperature than 70ยฐF. I removed from heat and let it steep for a couple of hours, strain and then add the beeswax, stir over warm burner. I then let it rest my room temperature until it solidifies.
