We’ve all seen it…the wellness fad this year seems to be lymphatic drainage (think guasha, dry brushing, vibration plates, rebounding, and lymphatic massage)–and for good reason!
The lymphatic system removes toxins and waste from the tissues, helping to fight infection and disease. Proper lymphatic drainage improves circulation, reduces inflammation (no one likes to look or feel puffy and bloated), and relieves fatigue.
But there’s a piece of the puzzle no one seems to be talking about: the fascial-lymphatic connection. Unrestricted, healthy fascia is foundational to the lymphatic system being able to operate optimally.
Since the lymphatic vessels are thin-walled tubes, fascial tightness may restrict and strain them, slowing or even blocking drainage, which can cause swelling and general weakness.
But, what creates fascial adhesions?
Whether it’s acute physical or emotional trauma, or years of chronic stress, it creates tension in your body that gets stored in your fascia.
If you:
- Have been in any type of accident or experienced an injury, no matter how minor
- Have a job or hobby that requires repetitive movements
- Have suffered emotional trauma or experience chronic stress
- Have poor posture, sitting habits, or movement hygiene
- Have had surgery
…then it’s safe to say that your fascia could use some love!
This is where Craniosacral Fascial Therapy comes in.
A gentle, but powerful, hands-on technique, CFT releases tension and fascial restrictions so that the lymphatic system is able to drain and function as it’s meant to, making your efforts to support lymphatic drainage more successful and able to actually create lasting improvements.
