💙💚September Is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month – And September 10 Is World Su***de Prevention Day.💚💙

This month is a reminder that su***de can be prevented—and sometimes, the simplest acts can make the biggest difference.

⭐Listening.

Community and belonging are protective factors against su***de. Share your story, invite conversation, and check in with others—you never know whose life you may impact.

🌟 Real Impact, Real Hope

Many people experiencing suicidal thoughts were stopped by someone close—or even a stranger—who simply reached out.

Small gestures of kindness and care can change the trajectory of a life.

💙💚How You Can Take Action Today💚💙

✔️ Check in on a friend or loved one.
✔️ Share information about 988 to spread awareness.

✨ Missouri’s Silent Crisis: Let’s Speak Up & Save Lives ✨

Missouri’s age-adjusted su***de rate is 18.72 per 100,000, according to the most recent CDC-driven data from World Life Expectancy. This positions su***de among the top 12 leading causes of death in our state.

That translates to approximately 1,177 Missourians lost to su***de each year—about 2.16% of all deaths.

Compared to 20 years ago, Missouri's rate has climbed significantly, reaching 19.1 per 100,000 in 2022—a staggering 57.9% increase. For perspective, the national su***de rate stands at around 14.09 per 100,000, meaning Missouri's rate is notably higher.

Every number represents a life lost. Su***de affects families, schools, workplaces, and communities. It’s not just a statistic—it’s a call to action.

☎️988—Your Lifeline: Help Is Here, 24/7, Free & Confidential
🔹If you're in crisis or thinking about su***de, you are not alone.
🔹Call, text, or chat 988 to connect with trained counselors any time, day or night.

You or someone you care about deserves help and hope.

Empowering Actions You Can Take
1️⃣Share this post. Spread awareness beyond the numbers—let’s make hope louder than despair.
2️⃣Program “988” into your phone and your loved ones’ phones now.
3️⃣Promote local trainings like QPR or Mental Health First Aid in your networks—educators, parents, veterans, and community leaders.
4️⃣Reach out and stay connected. If you or someone you know is struggling, dialing, texting, or chatting 988 is a powerful first step.

Together, Missouri Can Be Better
By raising awareness, encouraging open conversations, and highlighting vital resources like 988, we can make hope more visible and accessible.
