Katie can provide insights into your case(s) based on her two decades of training and experience in varied settings with diverse clients AND her lived experiences as a survivor of emotional and sexual abuse in childhood who became a q***r, disabled, plural/dissociative client of different therapists and modalities with complex trauma.

Katie’s expertise includes affirming therapy for q***r, trans, nonbinary, le***an, gay, bisexual, intersex, asexual, pansexual, two spirit, and/or neurodivergent clients, including autistic people and those who experience ADH, dissociative identities/plurality, and other atypical neurological profiles. Katie’s primary theoretical frameworks are client-centered therapy and EMDR Therapy/Adaptive Information Processing theory with ego state therapy/theory informed by neuropsychology. Katie also especially loves working with groups in therapy, support, and educational spaces, including group EMDR protocols.

Being a new mental health clinician can be very overwhelming, and we don't always get a supervisor that knows how to help us grow in the first few years following graduation and licensure. This is a place where there are "no dumb questions" and a soft place to land when feeling vulnerable and low on skills and experience. We can focus on the basics, point you in directions for good training or reading, and just help hold you when you're feeling "not good enough." You will leave feeling optimistic about what to do next. Come as you are on the FOURTH FRIDAY of each month (next meeting January 2026).

In light of recent oral arguments at the Supreme Court in the Chiles v. Salazar case, ACA reaffirms that conversion therapy is a harmful practice. We also reaffirm our commitment to supporting policies that protect clients, uphold professional standards and advance the integrity of the counseling profession. As part of a coalition of mental health organizations, we have signed on to a friend of the court brief reiterating:

• Conversion therapy is a dangerous and discredited practice
• Psychotherapy is more than simply ‘talking’ — it is a medical treatment and therefore can be regulated by states
• Conversion therapy can fuel stigma and discrimination toward the LGBTQ+ community
