Periwinkle for strength. For courage. For the quiet battles so many endure. đ
April is Esophageal Cancer Awareness Monthâa cancer that affects the esophagus, the pathway that allows us to eat and nourish our bodies. It is often aggressive and diagnosed late due to subtle symptoms. In the U.S., over 20,000 people are diagnosed each year, making awareness and early detection critical.
But behind every statistic is a story.
This month, I honor my mom, Kulbir Kaur Purewal.
She was the heart of our familyâkind, soft-spoken, and endlessly selfless. She built a life rooted in love, faith, and unity. She created a home that felt like a sanctuary, where everyone was welcomed, cared for, and treated as her own. If you knew her, you felt her warmth instantly.
When she was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, she faced it with unimaginable strength. She never complained. Never gave up. Even in her hardest moments, she continued to put us firstâloving, caring, and praying for everyone around her.
She showed me what true resilience looks like.
How to lead with kindness.
How to live with faith and purpose.
Everything I amâhow I care for others, how I show up for my patientsâis because of her.
At Elevate Medical, this month is deeply personal. Itâs about more than awarenessâitâs about honoring lives, stories, and the people who shape us.
My mom taught me to love without limits, forgive fully, stay united, and never lose faith.
Her roots live on through all of us. Her love still holds us together.
In her honor, and for every family facing this diseaseâspread awareness, listen to your body, and hold your loved ones close.
Forever our strength. Forever our home. đ
