Hello body workers and clients alike i am looking to hear about others experiences with inappropriate clients or professionals and how you handled the situation. Message me, comment or we can meet for coffee ( ill buy )
I had a recent experience that had me thinking “ would I lose my license if I beat the s**t out of this person being inappropriate on MY table in HIS house “. Long story short my neighbor made inappropriate requests multiple times during a session ( his first and only session ) . This was after he signed my anti harassment form and was well aware we are neighbors. I called the cops and this pervert got the case dismissed because I did not agree on a price for said inappropriate action. ( why would I put myself in further danger by naming a price for services I do not offer?) - this guy has a current restraining order on him from another local massage therapist AND admitted to the police that he harassed me before his time prior to seeing the judge. The judge dismissed the case with no recorded explanation and no one notified me that the case was dismissed. The pilice report had several inaccuracy’s including writing my name wrong - I found this out from a friend that is in local law enforcement, the case results are public information but I had no idea how to or that I even needed to look into it for over 2 years - this guy is still my neighbor and I have to look at his house every day. I have also not accepted a single male client since this incident - which is not fair to me or local men who need bodywork. I feel Like I don’t matter to the judicial system, like I didn’t work hard getting an education that allows me to help others. We deserve dignity and punishment for those who breach our safety boundaries. Especially after admitting to the offense! I’d really like to start or join a social media safety page for body workers. What is legal in my county to carry to defend myself, what does the perp have to do before it’s considered self defense.. exc. There are so many “ what if “ scenarios that are unique to each individual. My friend who is also a massage therapist had some unmentionable experiences that I cannot fathom being in without a legal defense plan.
I consider myself a good judge of character and have been able to avoid and deflect certain inquiries and people who “ creep me out “ - But I would like to swap stories and “what did you do’s “ with some local therapists and help educate eachother on the danges of lone work.
It is out of my norm to post something like this but it has been on my mind. I am looking for other’s experiences and input. I was told to look into house bill 1524, looks like this bill is set to be reviewed and hopefully passes early 2026.
