Cleaning your cannula regularly is important—but even with proper care, the soft plastic naturally wears over time. As cannulas age, they can become stiff, lose shape, and affect airflow and comfort.

Replacing your cannula on a regular schedule helps keep your oxygen therapy running smoothly and comfortably.

If you’re unsure when it’s time for new supplies, Performance Home Medical is here to help you stay on track with your care.

This Nurses Week, we celebrate the nurses who keep patient care at the center of everything they do. They wear a lot of hats, handle many priorities, and never lose focus on what matters most — the patient.

Nurses train the next generation, expand access to care in communities that need it, and show up every day ready to make a difference. Healthcare doesn't work without them.

We're proud to recognize our own nurses — Jill Lucier, Lorna Martin, and Hailey McClenathan — for the work they put in and for always putting Patients First.

Happy Nurses Week!

Keeping your bottle clean helps support your oxygen needs. Use warm water only to rinse and clean your chamber.

Avoid abrasive scrubbers—they can create small scratches where mineral deposits can build up over time.

What Patients First Means in Action: Responding Quickly to Support a Patient in Need

At Performance Home Medical, Patients First is more than a statement. It guides how we show up for patients and care teams every day.

Recently, our team was contacted by a pulmonary clinic with an urgent need for a patient who required oxygen to avoid hospital admission.

The team acted immediately. Clinical Liaison Connor McCallum and PHM’s Oxygen Team quickly assessed the situation and coordinated next steps.

In less than 15 minutes, the patient was set up with oxygen, helping ensure they could remain at home. Just as important, the team took the time to walk the patient and their family through the equipment, answering questions and providing support to help them feel confident and comfortable.

The clinic later shared their appreciation, recognizing not only the speed of response, but the level of care and attention provided throughout the process.

Because of this coordinated effort, the patient was able to remain at home, surrounded by family.

This is what Patients First looks like—responding with urgency, working together, and taking the time to deliver care the right way when it matters most.

Finding the right mask fit from the start can make a big difference in your comfort and success with therapy. We recommend using easy mask-fit technology right from your phone to help ensure the right fit at the very beginning.

If your mask later becomes uncomfortable or starts leaking, we can use that same technology—along with guidance from our experts—to make adjustments or recommend a different style.

Performance Home Medical is here to help you stay comfortable, confident, and on track with your care.

Before putting on your CPAP mask, warm the cushion in your hands for about 10 seconds. Slight warmth helps the silicone mold more comfortably to your face, creating a better seal.

A small step like this can make your therapy feel more comfortable and effective each night.

If you have questions about mask fit or comfort, Performance Home Medical is here to help you get the most out of your therapy. https://www.performancehomemed.com/

CPAP machines can adjust to your breathing needs—but your mask fit can change based on how you sleep. For side sleepers, using a CPAP-friendly pillow can help reduce pressure on your mask and support a better seal, so your therapy stays effective through the night.

If you’re having trouble getting comfortable or finding the right setup, Performance Home Medical is here to help you find solutions that work for you. Pillows are available on our retail site shop.performancehomemed.com

After cleaning your CPAP hose, let it hang vertically to dry. Gravity helps prevent moisture from pooling, which reduces that “first breath of water” feeling.
