Episode 8: The Surprise Challenge
Ada had been sticking to her routine—eating healthy, walking daily, and monitoring her blood sugar. She was even feeling more confident at work, handling stressful situations better. Then, the unexpected happened.
It was a Saturday morning when Ada received an invitation from her old friend, Zainab, for a reunion party. Zainab’s parties were legendary, filled with fried chicken, spicy suya, and colorful cocktails. The thought of seeing her old friends was exciting, but Ada’s heart sank.
“Will I be able to stick to my plan?” she wondered. “Will they understand if I don’t join in on the food and drinks?”
When Ada arrived at Zainab’s party, the atmosphere was electric. Music filled the air, and her friends greeted her with wide smiles. The spread of food on the table was irresistible, and Ada could feel her resolve wavering. She picked up a plate but hesitated. Zainab approached her.
“Ada, you’re looking amazing! Don’t tell me you’re turning down some fried chicken!” Zainab laughed, handing her a drink.
Ada smiled nervously. “I’m actually trying something new—eating healthier.”
“Good for you!” Zainab cheered. “But come on, one bite won’t hurt. We all deserve to treat ourselves!”
Ada stood there, torn. Her friends were supportive, but the temptation was strong. Then she remembered her why—her health, her energy, and how far she had come. She put the plate back down and grabbed a sparkling water instead.
“Not today, fried chicken. But I’ll enjoy the dance floor!” Ada laughed, her confidence rising.
Episode 9: A New Beginning
After the party, Ada was feeling proud of her decision, but she knew there was still one thing missing in her life—stress management. Despite her progress, work stress, family obligations, and her health journey were weighing on her. One evening, after a particularly exhausting day, she decided to try something new.
Ada had heard a lot about yoga, and she had seen it featured in health blogs and social media posts. “Maybe it’s time I give it a shot,” she thought. The next morning, she joined an online yoga class.
At first, it felt strange—sitting still, stretching her body, and focusing on her breath. But as the minutes passed, Ada began to feel a sense of peace she hadn’t experienced in months. The tension in her shoulders melted away, and she found herself smiling through the poses.
By the end of the class, Ada felt more centered than she had in a long time. She realized yoga could help her not only with her diabetes management but with her emotional well-being too.
“I think I’ve found my new stress reliever,” Ada thought, feeling a surge of hope.
