Attention Kenton Dental Care Patients:
North Detroit Street in Kenton will be closed beginning January 27th, 2025 until at least the end of July, 2025. Our staff wanted to assure you that our office will REMAIN OPEN during this entire road closure. For those wondering how to get to our office, we recommend using the entrance located at the back of our building. As for parking, there will be parking available in our back parking lot for any of our patients to utilize and the parking lot across the alley between our building and the Twirl Bridal Shop building. For those who are not sure how to access the back entrance/parking lot, there are access points to the alleyways on West Carroll Street, North Market Street, and West Columbus Street. If you need any further assistance, do not hesitate to call the office during regular hours and one of the girls will be happy to try and assist you. We are also encouraging patients to leave a few minutes earlier for any appointments to allow them time to get around all road closures and ensure you get a parking place. We are so sorry for any inconveniences, but we hope to see you soon!

Is iced coffee bad for your teeth? Whether you like yours hot or iced, all coffee is acidic and can lead to tooth sensitivity and increase the risk of cavities if consumed in excess. It can also stain your teeth over time. Many commercially available iced coffees contain added sugars or sweetened syrups, which can promote tooth decay and gum disease if consumed frequently. But don’t worry - we won’t ask you to take away your iced coffee for good!

To minimize potential negative effects on your teeth while enjoying iced coffee:
- Limit consumption of sugary or sweetened varieties.
- Drink through a straw positioned toward the back of your mouth to reduce contact with teeth.
- Rinse your mouth with water after drinking coffee to help neutralize acidity and reduce staining.
- Maintain good oral hygiene by brushing your teeth at least twice a day and flossing daily.
- Visit your dentist regularly for check-ups and professional cleanings.

You may have heard the claim that charcoal toothpaste can be used to naturally whiten your teeth.

However, there's no proof that charcoal dental products are safe or effective, according to the American Dental Association. In fact, using overly abrasive materials like charcoal can have the opposite effect and actually make your teeth appear more yellow by wearing away enamel and exposing the layer yellow dentin underneath. Remember: always opt for a whitening toothpaste with the ADA Seal of Acceptance for safety, effectiveness, and tooth protection.

Don’t hesitate to ask our team any questions you have about choosing the right toothpaste at your next appointment!
