I am sincerely humbled by and so grateful for the outpouring of love and support on yesterday’s post. When I posted it I never expected so many people to comment and post so many positive and kind words. Sometimes this job is hard, but reading all the comments and seeing the impact that someone can make in another person’s life makes it all worth it. In 2013, I came to Keokuk at the age of nineteen to work for Dirk and Terry DeJong. In June of 2020, my father and I purchased the funeral home from them and I moved in upstairs. We set to work updating the historic building; new ramp, paint inside and out, carpeting, window treatments, HVAC and more. As June of 2025 comes to a close and we celebrate five years of ownership, I want to say thank you. Thank you to the families that have put their trust in us to serve you and your loved ones. Thank you to the community for being welcoming and supporting a young man following his childhood dream of owning a small-town funeral home. Thank you to all the people who gave me guidance when I was just starting out. And a huge thank you to my wife and children for always being my biggest fans. It has been an honor and privilege to serve the Keokuk area, and I look forward to doing so for many years to come. -Evan Printy
