To whom it may concern 🤍

And I say this as a mother, doula, friend, woman who loves Jesus deeply. It’s because of this faith that I am grieved.

You are loved no matter what.

One of my favorite parts of being a doula- time spent in the prenatal period with families.

The role of a doula is so special because our relationship with families gets to be unique, personal, non-clinical. We can meet for coffee on a Saturday morning, I can visit your home and meet your pets and other children, and I get to be there in your birth transformation as well.

The more I learn and the more time I spend in this role, the deeper my love for families, community and birth grows.

To all of my clients, past and present, thank you for inviting me into your lives 🤍

Postpartum Care Group returns!

Mark your calendars! Our first one will be Wednesday, September 11.

After a little summer break, I will be returning to hosting a bimonthly postpartum group for mothers in their first year postpartum! This is not just for those who have been my doula clients, but open to anyone who is seeking community during this season!

Come over, have some tea, talk, ask questions, feed your baby and relax with a group of moms going through the same things.

This will be at my house, please message me for my address! ♥️

When life gives you lemons, make lemon blueberry scones for a postpartum mom in your circle ✨ 🍋🫐

When I was very early postpartum with my second baby, my doula came over and brought homemade scones, and for some reason it stuck with me. When I became a doula, I decided to keep this tradition going- taking scones to the amazing mothers in my life 🤍

Batch number three this week!!

Back in January I got a call from this amazing mom about being her doula. It was early in her pregnancy, and she was sick as can be in the first trimester, but worked out and continued to train in the gym throughout her pregnancy like a total boss🏋️‍♀️

A few weeks later, we went to one of her OB appointments together. After laughing together in the parking lot over the ridiculous answers this OB gave on some important questions she had, she decided to switch to a practice with midwives about halfway through her pregnancy ( we love you Wendover!!!)

We met for lunch in the third trimester, met at her house around 36 weeks, and then at at last- I joined her in her labor and delivery room 🤍

After days of prodromal labor, extreme pelvic pain and pressure, the informed decisions for a Foley ball and then pitocin- her labor was in full swing!

We walked and walked around the unit until the contractions became too intense to walk. She bravely worked through each contraction- battling severe nausea and sickness- for several hours, and then confidently decided on an epidural (a great choice for her labor- pitocin is no freaking joke)

Rotating positions every half hour or so (with incredible mobility I might add 💪🏽) she rested, we talked, laughed, told stories and waited with anticipation for the time to come to push. Her team was amazing! After around 13 hours at the hospital, it was time to meet her girl- and sweet Amelia was born just before midnight! Sarah- you are incredibly strong and you faced so much at the end of your pregnancy and in your labor, and handled it all with grit and determination to bring your girl here. I am so proud of you!

There is a time for an epidural, for every intervention- and it’s always encouraging to me to see when a mom chooses what’s best for HER! 💪🏽✨🤍

A few months ago I talked to this sweet mom to be on the phone, and after chatting just a few minutes I knew we were going to click. Expecting their first, and doing all the things to prepare (pelvic PT, midwifery care, lactation support setup), we met several times for coffee or at their house to prepare and get to know one another more.

On July 22, an early Monday morning- my phone rang around 4am. “Hey! My water broke a few hours ago, I texted earlier around 2:30 but I thought now was time to call!”

She checked in with her amazing midwives, and we all agreed that rest was best, and to call if anything changed. Around 5am, my phone rang again… “hey! So I’m having these very close together” while on the phone for 8 minutes, she had 3 very strong contractions. “I’d definitely call your midwife and give her a heads up!”

At 5:20, she let me know they were headed to the hospital (good call!)

After getting through triage, I joined them upstairs in L&D at 6:45am.

When I walked in, the room was quiet, the tub was being filled, and I immediately walked over to behold this peaceful, powerful laboring mom before me- riding each contraction so beautifully and with such intentional breathing, in her own faraway world.

As soon as she felt ready, she got into the water and began moving instinctually in whatever way her body needed. With each contraction, her husband and I applied cook counter pressure- her back labor was intense, but she calmly and with great determination brought herself through, and suddenly transition was imminent.

I looked up at her husband, he and I the only ones with her in the room at the moment- “I think she’s pushing, let’s grab her nurse (who was incredible)…

Hi friends new and old!

Thanks for following along here with me as I share my heart for mothers, families, birth and the support that is needed in each of those spheres.

For the new faces here, I’m Kinsey Rings. I am a birth doula in Greensboro, North Carolina. I believe that mothers deserve loving and respectful support during pregnancy and birth, no matter where they want to or need to have their babies.

During this time, you deserve an advocate, a friend, someone who believes in you, someone to encourage you, pray with you, remind you of your strength, or be a shoulder to lean on when it feels difficult to go on. I hope that I can be just that for all of the families who invite me into this transformative time in their lives.

I have always felt called towards supporting mothers during birth, and I love learning. I have gathered lots of “tools” in my doula bag- a formal doula training with , becoming a certified VBAC doula through , attending a workshop, joining the ongoing beautiful community doula mentorship program and created, and most importantly, witnessing and being apart of many incredible and different types of births- perhaps my greatest teacher.

I have two sweet children of my own, Robin and Iris, and their births were the catalysts for me to finally answer this calling.

I consider myself a balanced person and seek to see the good in people and most situations, I can see all sides and try to help those with opposing views to understand each other. I don’t really ascribe to black and white thinking, and I really don’t like it when people belittle those they don’t agree with.

I love flowers, baking cookies, summertime, holidays, listening to 90s music and watching 90s movies… I’m a North Carolinian through and through (Go Heels), and really love the Triad community ♥️

Thanks for being here!! If you want to get to know each other more, or you are looking for a doula in Greensboro (or nearby), please reach out!

Happy Summertime!! ☀️ ✌🏼
