Welcome to this week's episode of "Isn’t That Interesting?!" Martha Kaley is joined by Dr. Andy Tao, who received a research grant from earlier.org in 2023 entitled “Early detection of breast cancer through monitoring signature phosphoproteins from plasma derived extracellular vesicles."

To view on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/episode/0lu5iTbDPlntvoMnT85Ylk?si=eaa6r8lzQOOagjtFoXJG7g

Dr. Andy Tao is a Professor of Biochemistry, Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, and Molecular Pharmacology at Purdue University. He is leading research into how tiny particles in the blood could help detect BRCA-related breast cancer before tumors even form.

His work focuses on extracellular vesicles (EVs)—microscopic messengers that carry critical information between cells. By studying these particles, Dr. Tao aims to uncover early warning signals of cancer, potentially revealing hidden disease long before it can be detected through traditional imaging.
