Peterson Health and Public Health Region 8 are hosting a vaccine clinic for first responders and community members involved with flood response or who need hepatitis A or tetanus vaccines. Vaccines are free.

Why Hepatitis A Vaccine?
•Floodwaters can be contaminated with the virus and even tiny amounts are dangerous.
•Hepatitis A can cause weeks of illness (fever, fatigue, turning yellow and stomach pain).
•The vaccine works well and has few side effects.
•The vaccine is for anyone over the age of 19 who has not been vaccinated.
Why Tetanus Vaccine?
•Floods leave behind debris and sharp objects that can be contaminated with tetanus bacteria.
•Tetanus, or lockjaw, can make it hard to swallow and includes muscle spasms, seizures and headaches.
•The vaccine works well and lasts for 10 years.
•The vaccine is for anyone over 10 years of age who has not been vaccinated in more than 5 years.
