The Lion Club Courage In 1998 I had brain surgery for a rare brain disease, and a month after that I had to have a skin graft because my flap had died from lack of oxygen.

Two months later I was back at work and on my desk a friend had left a small plush lion. A few months later a co worker was diagnosed with late stage Melanoma. After the shock wore off I tried to think of something I could give to him to show my support. After much thought I decided to give him a lion because it is the symbol for courage and because the one I had meant a lot to me. Thirteen years

and many lions later, sometimes going to as many as 9 stores to find one, I decided to start The Lion Club. I designed a lion, looked for a manufacturer to make them and built a website so it would be easier for the public to purchase one. The Lion Club© is for someone going through a life threatening illness or event. Family members also go through the trauma with their loved one. I have a friend who once told me “I don’t ever want to be a member of the lion club but if I ever have a life threatening illness I better get one!”

The more I thought about it I decided we also needed a MILITARY COURAGE and COURAGE TO GO ON as well as silicon bracelets for family and friends to wear because, in my opinion, family and friends have the hard part by watching their loved one go through their life changing event. I am all set up except for the lions. They should be here sometime in May.

Today choose to do one thing that will bring you laughter and peace in your heart.

Don't wait until everything in your life is sorted out, and then you will relax and enjoy your day, no, find moments of fun and happiness now. Don’t wait for tomorrow.
