Meet Sierra, our latest addition to the HG family, coming in hot as our new Director of Grants & Sponsorship!

Sierra brings a deep love for skiing, storytelling, and strengthening community through creative partnerships. What's her most recent career highlight you ask? It is helping host the first-ever Women at the Beaver Creek Birds of Prey World Cup - complete with ski racing legends, Olympic icons (SV's own Picabo Street), and a live performance by Kool & The Gang (yeah, you read that right)!

When she's not wrangling grant deadlines or championing adaptive recreation, you might find her on the slopes, fly fishing, or crushing it at the bowling alley.

We are stoked to have Sierra on our team and a part of our family

"This program has changed the trajectory of my life, and I feel a renewed sense of hope and strength in myself. I cannot thank Higher Ground enough." – Janelle

From winding singletrack to breathtaking mountain views, our Galena mountain biking program offered more than just time on the trails. It was a chance for participants to unplug from the noise of everyday life, breathe in the fresh mountain air, and reconnect with themselves in nature.

Thank you to all the volunteers, donors and HG stakeholders that make programs and transformative change like this happen.

We’re proud to announce our partnership with Forterra!

Forterra and Higher Ground are united by a shared mission: to serve those who have served. Both organizations are deeply committed to empowering veterans; Forterra through technology that protects and extends warfighter capability, and Higher Ground through therapeutic recreation that builds resilience and community.

This partnership bridges those worlds, bringing veterans new opportunities to reconnect, recover, and re-engage with purpose.

Last week, veterans from across the country came together in Rumney, New Hampshire for an unforgettable climbing experience with our incredible partners at Paradox Sports. Set against the stunning backdrop of the White Mountains, this program wasn’t just about climbing, it was about connection, resilience, and pushing limits together.

Testimonials from two participants paint the picture:

“I am humbled and grateful for this opportunity to learn a new skill and connect with wonderful human beings from all walks of life. We all received each other with open arms and just had a grand old time!” - Tam

“I will remember this and take home tools to help me the rest of my life. Thank you so much.” – Shane

These veterans showed up for each other and for themselves. Thank you to everyone who made this program possible!
