In chiropractic philosophy and education, the three main causes of subluxation are classically described as the “Three T’s”:

Trauma, Toxins, and Thoughts

Each represents a category of stress that can disrupt the nervous system’s normal function and lead to misalignment or altered joint motion (subluxation).
Let’s break each one down in detail:

1️⃣ Trauma (Physical Stress)

Definition: Any physical force or injury that overwhelms the body’s ability to maintain normal alignment and neuromuscular balance.

🔹 Examples

Major: Falls, car accidents, sports injuries, whiplash, lifting injuries.

Microtrauma: Repetitive motion, poor posture, extended sitting, carrying heavy bags, or sleeping awkwardly.

🔹 Mechanism
Physical stress can:

Strain ligaments and muscles supporting spinal joints.

Alter joint motion (hypomobility or hypermobility).

Irritate spinal nerves through misalignment or inflammation.

Over time, these micro- or macro-traumas can create fixations and altered biomechanics that chiropractors identify and correct.

2️⃣ Toxins (Chemical Stress)

Definition: Internal or external chemical imbalances that interfere with cellular and neurological function.

🔹 Examples

Poor diet, dehydration, or processed foods.

Alcohol, drugs, or medications.

Environmental pollutants or heavy metals.

Hormonal or metabolic imbalances.

🔹 Mechanism
Chemical stress changes the body’s internal environment:

Causes inflammation, muscle tension, and impaired nerve conductivity.

Alters proprioceptive and motor control, increasing the likelihood of muscular imbalance or subluxation.

A toxic or inflamed body is less able to repair micro-injuries, so joint and soft-tissue stress accumulates more quickly.

3️⃣ Thoughts (Emotional / Mental Stress)

Definition: Mental and emotional stress that affects muscle tone, posture, and the autonomic nervous system.

🔹 Examples

Chronic anxiety, fear, anger, grief, or depression.

High workload, relationship conflict, or financial stress.

🔹 Mechanism

Mental stress triggers the fight-or-flight response, increasing sympathetic tone.

This leads to elevated muscle tension (especially in the neck, shoulders, and back).

Chronic tension causes restricted motion and postural imbalances, setting the stage for subluxations.

✅ In short:
Subluxations arise when physical, chemical, or emotional stress exceeds the body’s capacity to adapt. The resulting dysfunction can irritate nerves, restrict movement, and disrupt normal physiology — the primary focus of chiropractic correction and lifestyle care.

🔹 Changing Your Mindset for the Best

Today, I want to focus on the “T” that I think gets the least attention and is often overlooked — Thoughts.

Your thoughts can create a physical reaction in your body. If you don’t feel good physically, then you won’t feel good mentally. Likewise, if you aren’t feeling good mentally, your body will reflect that state of mind as well.

Your perspective on life dictates the reality you live in. If you can shift your mindset to see the light even in the darkest of times, the world around you will become a much brighter place.

The mind and body work as a synchronized system. It’s not an easy task, but if you can focus on the positive aspects of your life and take negative moments as learning lessons that help you grow as a person, then your mind, body, and spirit will be able to heal more effectively — allowing you to blossom into the person you truly want to be.

One of the best ways to start your moning is by going outside and absorbing sunlight and here is why...

🌞 1. Resets Your Circadian Rhythm

Morning sunlight is rich in blue light wavelengths that directly stimulate special receptors in your eyes (intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells).

This sends a signal to your suprachiasmatic nucleus (your brain’s master clock) to set your 24-hour circadian rhythm.

Benefits:

Helps you feel more awake and alert during the day.

Improves the timing of melatonin release at night → better sleep quality.

Reduces risk of insomnia or circadian disruption.

🧠 2. Boosts Mood & Mental Health

Sunlight increases serotonin production, a neurotransmitter linked to mood, focus, and calmness.

Higher morning serotonin can later be converted into melatonin at night, which helps with restful sleep.

Consistent exposure has been linked to lower rates of seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and depression.

⚡ 3. Enhances Energy & Alertness

Cortisol (your “get up and go” hormone) naturally spikes in the morning. Sunlight exposure supports a healthy cortisol awakening response.

This sharpens attention, improves cognitive function, and helps regulate stress throughout the day.

💪 4. Supports Physical Health

Vitamin D: Although UVB is stronger later in the day, morning light still contributes to vitamin D production when UV levels are sufficient.

Metabolic regulation: Studies show people who get morning sunlight tend to have healthier weight regulation, blood sugar control, and reduced risk of metabolic syndrome.

Immune function: Morning light strengthens circadian regulation of immune cells.

👀 5. Gentle on the Eyes & Skin

Morning sunlight has a lower UV index compared to midday sun.

You still get the circadian and mood benefits without the same degree of skin-aging or eye strain risk.

✅ Best Practice:

Aim for 10–20 minutes outside within the first 30–60 minutes of waking (longer if it’s cloudy).

Get the light through your eyes (not direct staring at the sun), so skip sunglasses if comfortable — but protect your eyes if the light is harsh or you’re sensitive.

Direct exposure is best (through a window doesn’t have the same effect).

Did you know that doing a seven day water fast can reduce your lifetime probability of getting cancer by 70%?!?!

The typical American diet of 3 meals a day is not how we evolved for thousands of years. We evolved to be hunters and gatherers by living off the land with whole natural foods. As a hunter and gatherer you would never know when your next meal would be but the amazing power of the body was designed to thrive in that environment.

The benefits of fasting vary depending on how long you fast. Each duration triggers different biological processes in the body. Here's a breakdown of common fasting lengths and their unique benefits:

🕓 12-Hour Fast (e.g., 8 PM to 8 AM)
Best For: Beginners, maintaining metabolic health

✅ Benefits:
Stabilizes blood sugar and insulin levels

Helps shift the body into fat-burning mode (mild ketosis)

Allows for digestive rest and improved gut health

May support circadian rhythm and better sleep

🕔 16:8 Intermittent Fast (16 hours fast, 8 hours eating window)
Best For: Weight loss, insulin resistance

✅ Benefits:
Enhances insulin sensitivity

Promotes fat loss while preserving muscle

Increases human growth hormone (HGH) levels (muscle repair, fat metabolism)

Boosts mental clarity and alertness

May reduce inflammation

🕕 24-Hour Fast (OMAD – One Meal A Day)
Best For: Deeper fat burning, resetting eating habits

✅ Benefits:
Triggers autophagy (cellular cleanup and repair)

Promotes deeper ketosis and fat adaptation

Resets hunger hormones like ghrelin

Improves discipline and mindfulness with food

🕖 36-Hour Fast
Best For: Plateau breaking, metabolic reset

✅ Benefits:
Stronger activation of autophagy and mitophagy (recycling damaged mitochondria)

Significantly lowers insulin and blood glucose

Enhances stem cell regeneration

May improve gut lining integrity (leaky gut reduction)

🕗 48-Hour Fast
Best For: Advanced fasters, deep healing

✅ Benefits:
Deep autophagy and anti-aging effects

Increased dopamine receptor sensitivity (can boost mood long-term)

Enhances microbiome diversity

May increase BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor) for brain health

🕘 72-Hour Fast
Best For: Immune system reset, therapeutic purposes

✅ Benefits:
Triggers stem cell regeneration, especially immune cells

May reboot immune function (especially after chemo, per Dr. Valter Longo's research)

Clears inflammation markers and resets metabolic systems

Increased ketone production for brain fuel

Possible increase in longevity-related gene expression

⚠️ Important Considerations
Stay hydrated: Drink water, and optionally add electrolytes (sodium, potassium, magnesium).

Break fasts gently: Avoid heavy carbs or high-fat meals after long fasts.

Medical conditions: If you have diabetes, heart issues, are underweight, or pregnant — consult a doctor.

Listen to your body: Hunger waves pass, but dizziness, nausea, or weakness are signals to stop.

A subluxation in chiropractic refers to a misalignment or restricted movement of a vertebra in the spine that may affect nerve function and overall health. Subluxations can interfere with the nervous system’s ability to communicate with the rest of the body, potentially contributing to pain, stiffness, or even dysfunction in other areas of health.

⚡ What Are the Effects of a Subluxation?
-Local pain or stiffness in the spine.
-Muscle tightness or spasms.
-Numbness, tingling, or radiating pain if nerves are affected.
-May contribute to headaches, fatigue, poor posture, and reduced mobility.
-Overall health, immune function, or energy.

💡 Common Symptoms Chiropractors Treat Related to Subluxations:
-Low back pain
-Neck pain and tension
-Headaches/migraines
-Sciatica or nerve-related leg pain
-Poor posture
-Shoulder tension or mobility issues

💆‍♂️ How Chiropractic Helps with Subluxations:

✅ Spinal Adjustments
-A gentle, targeted thrust to a specific joint to restore proper motion and alignment.
-May relieve pressure on nerves and muscles and improve joint mechanics.
-Patients often feel immediate relief or improved range of motion.

✅ Soft Tissue Work
-Chiropractors often use trigger point therapy, stretching, or instrument-assisted muscle release to reduce tension and support spinal corrections.

✅ Rehab & Stabilization
-Exercises to strengthen supporting muscles and prevent future subluxations.
-Posture training, ergonomics, and lifestyle coaching.

✅ Nervous System Regulation
-By correcting subluxations, chiropractors aim to restore balance in the nervous system, allowing the body to heal and function optimally.

🧠 Quick Analogy:
Think of your spine as a highway and your nerves as cars. A subluxation is like a traffic jam—chiropractic care clears the road so messages can travel freely again.
