From a trauma therapist’s perspective, many people are carrying grief, fear, anger, and deep exhaustion right now, often silently and in their bodies, not just their thoughts, and those voices deserve respect and protection.
At Empowering Wellness, we believe naming harm matters — especially when systems meant to protect people act outside the law. Calling attention to ICE’s illegal actions isn’t about being divisive; it’s about integrity, humanity, and accountability.
There often isn’t a quick solution or task available to alleviate the pain, but there’s real power in courageously speaking up when something isn’t right. And there are little steps we can take each day to be present and demonstrate kindness in our own communities. Your impact doesn’t have to be global to matter.
Here are some ways you can show up right now for yourself, for those around you, and therefore, for the world.
-Listen without trying to fix.
-Check in on friends and neighbors who may be impacted
-Set boundaries and rest when needed so we can stay grounded and present.
-Extending grace when someone is struggling to function as usual
-Contact your Senator to voice your concerns
We aren’t wired to hold this alone. Nervous systems heal in connection. Small, steady acts of empathy and attunement matter more than we realize, and healing most often happens through presence.
