Resident Spotlight: Dr. David Ponitz
This month, we are honored to highlight one of our distinguished residents whose life has been defined by visionary leadership, dedication to education, and lasting community impact.
Dr. David Ponitz, raised in Lansing, Michigan, earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and his Ph.D. from Harvard University. He began his career as Superintendent of Schools in Hillsdale, Michigan before going on to help establish two community colleges in Freeport, Illinois and Ann Arbor, Michigan, guided by his strong belief in accessible and affordable education. In the 1970ās, he moved to Dayton to serve as President of Sinclair Community College, where he led the institution for 22 years and became widely respected for strengthening workforce development and expanding educational opportunities throughout the region. His leadership earned him numerous state and national honors, and after 50 years of service, he was named a Lifetime Member of the Rotary Club of Dayton.
For the past 10 years, Dr. Ponitz has been a valued member of the One Lincoln Park community. An avid reader and lifelong learner, he remains active through national and international consulting with business, education, and community leaders while also prioritizing his health in our on-site fitness center.
