Today was nothing short of extraordinary!

We had the honor of celebrating FIVE incredible residents who are 100 years old or better—our very own Century Club! šŸŽ‰

A special shout out to Gwen, Mary Jane, Jack, and our newest members, Harvey and Warner. What makes this even more remarkable? Harvey and Warner both turned 100 on the SAME DAY! An unbelievably rare and beautiful moment to share the same home, the same birthday, and the same milestone of a full century of life.

We were also honored to welcome the Dayton Police Department and Chief Afzal as they recognized Harvey as the oldest living retired Dayton police officer.

What a truly special day filled with history, honor, and celebration. We are so grateful these amazing individuals call our community home.

We had a "shamrockin" good time celebrating St. Patrick’s Day here at One Lincoln Park! Residents came together for a day filled with lots of cheer and, of course, some festive green beer.

It was a great day centered on community, as residents gathered to enjoy each other's company and share in the holiday spirit. After all, you don't need to find a four-leaf clover to feel lucky when you have neighbors like ours!

We had an incredible time at our Resident speaker Series this week, featuring a truly special guest—Jack Hampshire, who shared firsthand stories from his remarkable experience serving with Air Force One.

From the 1940s through the 1960s, Jack played a role in a pivotal era of aviation and history, offering us a unique glimpse into the evolution of presidential aircraft and what it was like flying during such an important time in our nation. Residents were captivated as he shared stories from his missions, the different planes used by past presidents, and even the special phone he had—ready at a moment’s notice for his next assignment.

At 100 years old, Jack continues to inspire us all with his passion for storytelling and his willingness to share the experiences he lived through. It was truly an honor to learn from him and celebrate the incredible history within our own community.

Thank you, Jack, for taking us on such a memorable journey through time! āœˆļø

One Lincoln Park was honored to participate in the Duane W. Chapman Senior Symposium on Reframing Aging on March 11th hosted by the University of Dayton Department of Special Programs and Continuing Education. The event provided an engaging day of meaningful conversations focused on aging, community connection, and innovative ways to support well-being at every stage of life.

Donna Kastner, Director of Age Well Dayton, served as the symposium chair and has been a champion for the age 60+ population for over 20 years. Paul Boeckman, a retired financial services executive, served as a master of ceremony with Donna. Richard Eisenberg was a keynote speaker. He is an award-winning journalist and podcaster who specializes in older Americans, aging, personal finances, work and retirement. He writes The View from Unretirement column for MarketWatch and freelances for the Stanford Center on Longevity Magazine, Kiplinger, and AARP. In his comments, he explored the shifting landscape of retirement and how to think intentionally about the next chapter of life. Jenny Carlson, State Director for AARP Ohio, provided details on Dayton’s role in the AARP network of Age-Friendly States and Communities, and how local advocacy and partnerships strengthen support for older adults and caregivers.

Attendees also had the opportunity to participate in breakout sessions that allowed for a deeper dive into important topics impacting older adults and the local organizations that serve them. It was a great opportunity to connect with so many passionate professionals, meet new people, and explore the many local resources shared by the event’s excellent exhibitors.

At One Lincoln Park, lifelong learning never stops.

We recently launched a new resident-led series where members of our community share their life experiences, passions, and expertise with one another.

Our resident Kathleen took the stage to share her journey as an actor, director, and professor of theatre. Her presentation, ā€œWhat Happens Before the Curtain Goes Up,ā€ gave us a behind-the-scenes look at rehearsals, preparation, and the dedication it takes to bring a production to life.

At One Lincoln Park, we don’t just celebrate our residents — we learn from them.

Resident Spotlight: Dr. David Ponitz

This month, we are honored to highlight one of our distinguished residents whose life has been defined by visionary leadership, dedication to education, and lasting community impact.

Dr. David Ponitz, raised in Lansing, Michigan, earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and his Ph.D. from Harvard University. He began his career as Superintendent of Schools in Hillsdale, Michigan before going on to help establish two community colleges in Freeport, Illinois and Ann Arbor, Michigan, guided by his strong belief in accessible and affordable education. In the 1970’s, he moved to Dayton to serve as President of Sinclair Community College, where he led the institution for 22 years and became widely respected for strengthening workforce development and expanding educational opportunities throughout the region. His leadership earned him numerous state and national honors, and after 50 years of service, he was named a Lifetime Member of the Rotary Club of Dayton.

For the past 10 years, Dr. Ponitz has been a valued member of the One Lincoln Park community. An avid reader and lifelong learner, he remains active through national and international consulting with business, education, and community leaders while also prioritizing his health in our on-site fitness center.

Dr. Ponitz states ā€œThis is a first-rate community with a smart, friendly, and responsive staff who help ensure your needs are met while allowing you to maintain your independence.ā€

Monday was paws-itively amazing! 🐾

Our residents had the sweetest time meeting some incredible pet therapy dogs! They learned all about what pet therapy is and how these special pups bring comfort, joy, and connection wherever they go. Of course, the best part was getting to snuggle, pet, and soak up all that unconditional love.

There’s nothing like a wagging tail and a warm cuddle to brighten the week!

We were truly honored to provide soup for the House of Bread Empty Bowls Fundraiser in Dayton, Ohio! This incredible event was a huge success, welcoming close to 500 attendees who had the opportunity to sample over 20 different soups, all in support of an amazing cause.

House of Bread does such important work in our community, providing meals, shelter, and hope to individuals and families in need. The Empty Bowls event was a powerful reminder of what can happen when the community comes together—local organizations, volunteers, and supporters all united to make a difference.

Thank you to House of Bread for allowing us to be part of such a meaningful event, and to everyone who attended, volunteered, and supported this mission. We’re grateful to be involved in something so impactful and look forward to supporting this wonderful organization again in the future!
