⚠️ Increased Harvest Fire Risk ⚠️
Due to a combination of factors, including temperature, humidity, winds, and crop conditions, heightened risk of fire has been identified for the remainder of the harvest season.
How to Reduce Risk:
1. Review your fire procedures with operators and personnel.
2. Ensure fire extinguishers are filled and charged.
3. Review operators manuals, maintenance intervals, and quick reference
cleaning guides.
4. Monitor daily weather and crop conditions and operate accordingly.
5. Increase the frequency of equipment inspections and cleaning.
6. If possible, modify harvest direction to minimize operation in machine
dust cloud.
7. Manage vehicle speed, engine load, and vicinity to other machines as
risks change.
8. Always have a cell phone in cab.
9. If possible, have a tractor and disk on standby to create a firebreak
In Case of Fire:
🔴 Always put the safety of yourself and bystanders first.
🔴 Stop the machine immediately and disengage the separator and feeder house.
🔴 Assess the situation. If able to, immediately point the machine so the fire is downwind of the operator and turn off the engine. Indications of fire can be a scorched smell, an unusual sound, or the sight of smoke or flame.
🔴 Because fire may grow and spread rapidly, get off the machine immediately and move safely away from the fire.
🔴 If cleaning machine post-use, please use caution as fire could develop as components may be hot. Reference cleaning section of operator's manual and above instruction as applicable.
