Shakti Yoga welcomes Dr. Maysa Alavi, MD

Dr. Maysa Alavi, MD, began practicing yoga in 2003 and has since studied Hatha, Ashtanga, Kundalini, Bikram, Forrest, and Iyengar traditions. In 2019, she completed her teacher training in Kundalini Yoga with Gurmukh and her daughter Wah, with a special emphasis on prenatal yoga while pregnant with her first child.

Her teaching integrates Kundalini and Hatha yoga with Daoist energy practices learned from Master Mantak Chia, including the Microcosmic Orbit, Inner Smile, and Six Healing Sounds. As a physician, Dr. Alavi brings a unique lens to her teaching—linking movement, breathwork, and meditation with their physical, emotional, and energetic effects. Her classes often include guided meditations that visualize healing at the cellular, tissue, and organ levels, creating space for balance and renewal.

Sound baths are a form of vibrational therapy. A deeply immersive full body experience using different instruments, tones, and frequencies to benefit the listener. Participants need only to get comfortable, close their eyes, relax and receive. With a combination of Tibetan bowls, kalimba, crystal bowls, harmonium, and voice, Tara will guide you on a melodic journey designed to balance and ground the listener with blissful music that will resonate on a cellular level.
