Meet Lila, one of the wonderful servers at Atria La Residence Steger. She brings more than just meals – she brings joy to every table she visits!

With Atria since 2021, Lila is always in a great mood and shares a special bond with residents. "You can always count on Lila for a smile and help. What a ray of sunshine," shares Wendy, one of the residents. Her kindness and bright smile make every mealtime feel like a moment of happiness.

Just a few days after moving in, and Kathleen and Arvin are already cutting a rug at Holiday Thornton Place!

Arvin was hesitant to make the move, but he quickly changed his tune. "I love the camaraderie here, the food and all of the people," he shares.

Kjell’s passion is woodworking. ⚒️

Originally from Norway, he came to the U.S. at just 15 and built a life in Seattle. After retiring, he and his wife Marilyn moved into a cottage at Holiday Hidden Lakes to be closer to family.

From piggy banks for his 24 great-grandchildren to handcrafted pens, clocks and birdhouses, Kjell is still an active craftsman. The workshop he set up in the cottage's garage is his happy place, and he’s even made hundreds of small wooden crosses for the community chaplain to share.

Marilyn says, “He’s always happiest in his shop." And with his talent and dedication, it’s easy to see why.

We’re proud to celebrate Bobby, a recent high school graduate who has been part of the Holiday Country Squire waitstaff team since age 15. He's heading off to study nursing at Missouri Western State University.

"One of my favorite parts about working at Country Squire has been having meaningful conversations with our General Manager," Bobby shares. He says these conversations have helped shape his goals for the future.

"He's a wonderful young man who we love," shares Shirley, one of the community's residents. With plans to become a traveling nurse, Bobby is set to make a difference while seeing the world.

Barbara said “yes to the address” at Holiday Country Squire! 🏡

A lover of walks, reading and opera music, she finds joy in life's little pleasures. "Nothing beats a glass of sweet iced tea," she laughs. Born and raised in Kansas, she's excited to live closer to her family.

Let’s give Barbara a warm welcome as she begins this new chapter at Holiday. We’re lucky to have her!

Happy Birthday, Marie!🍦

Holiday Pinegate celebrated the 83rd birthday of one of their fabulous Resident Ambassadors with an ice cream social! Residents, friends, neighbors and family enjoyed sweet toppings galore and joined in a game of “How Well Do You Know Marie?” trivia.

"I want to share a huge 'thank you' to everyone who made the day so special," shares Marie. "I'm so glad you all celebrated with me. It was the best birthday I ever had."

Residents at Holiday Quail Run Estates created their own living masterpieces, nesting succulents into layers of soil, sand and rock to make terrariums. "The residents had fun making them," shares Melissa, the community's Engage Life Coordinator.

Grandparents' Day was extra special this year! Leading up to the celebration, grandchildren dropped off their favorite “stuffies” to stay with residents for the week. The stuffed friends joined in on fitness classes, book clubs and even community outings – and we captured it all in photos to share with their grandchildren.

On Grandparents' Day itself, families reunited for Muffins with Grands, picked up their stuffies and keepsake photo booklets, played backyard games and ended the day with popcorn and a movie together.

It was a celebration of the love, laughter and the impact grandparents have on their families.

Our Fourth of July was filled with delicious food, great company, and plenty of patriotic cheer. From a fantastic menu with a classic on BBQ Baby Back Ribs to unforgettable moments with friends and neighbors, it was a day to remember! The air was alive with festive spirit as our residents enjoyed a patriotic bingo game and a fun photo back wall to round off such a lovely event.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to our amazing Atria staff, who went above and beyond to make this holiday special for our residents. Your hard work and dedication made all the difference. We appreciate you! ❤️

🍫 Happy World Chocolate Day! 🍫

Today, our residents at Kalama Heights celebrated this delicious global event with a sweet treat! To mark the occasion, our wonderful ELC, Katelyn, curated a special chocolate tasting featuring three irresistible options: milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and white chocolate.

While each chocolate had its own charm, it was unanimous—dark chocolate took the top spot among our residents! 😋 What's your favorite? Let us know in the comments! 🍫

In honor of Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month, this event is dedicated to raising awareness, sparking meaningful conversations, and empowering action to support brain health.

Our guest speakers, Cindy Fowler and Glen Higa, will be sharing invaluable insights into both Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, and how we can better understand and navigate these conditions.

To kick off the official start of summer, we're excited to announce the launch of our Summer Craft Studio! This week, our talented residents got creative and made seashell magnets with air plants, the perfect touch to brighten up their kitchens. 🌿

It was so fun watching everyone hand-pick their unique shells and share what drew them to each piece as they crafted their own little masterpiece. The conversations and creativity were endless—proof that summer is the season for making memories and having fun!

June’s Taste of Holiday lunch took us to England yesterday. We served Bangers and Mash served with peas and onions along with strawberries and cream to resounding compliments from residents and their friends. To complete our cultural culinary immersion, we enjoyed watching Downton Abbey with a few bags of popcorn.

We can’t wait to see, and taste, the cuisine of our destination next month!

We had a very happy Father's Day celebrating all the dads and father figures in our community! With great food and lots of fanfare, we cheered for the important guys in our lives.

Chef Angela and Rolando, our Maintenance Engineer, served up some delicious nonalcoholic beer and sparkling cider in tiny beer steins for our residents to enjoy! We had a fan favorite Nevah Too Late play music for our residents and of course they hit it out of the park!

Family, friends and employees came together to share what they love and appreciate about the special guys in their lives.

We loved having a few of our four legged friends come join us at Whiskers and Wags event yesterday in our activity room. Having a pawtry with our residents and pups who brought their paws-itive attitude. Our residents got to enjoy a beautiful charcuterie spread while our fur friends go to dine on several different kinds of treats!

Grab your four-legged friends and come on over to Kalama Heights for our Whiskers and Wags Social Series event! On June 12 at 3PM we will be celebrating our animal friends with a costume contest, lots of fun activities, and treats for everyone to enjoy! While we paw-ty we will be collecting donations of towels and pet food for local animal rescue organizations.

Don't be late to the paw-ty, let’s have a ball!

Kalama Heights residents celebrated National Donut Day with a fun round of "Do-Nut Miss Bingo" in our activity room. Residents had a blast playing several rounds of bingo while munching on donuts from both Krispy Kreme and Maui Ono Donuts.

As part of Kalama Heights Speaker Series on June 25th at 6:30PM we are focusing on Living with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. June is Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month which is dedicated to raising awareness and encouraging conversations about brain health, and taking action to reduce the impact of these conditions. Our guest speakers, Cindy Fowler and Glen Higs, will be presenting valuable information on both Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. We hope to see you on June 25th at 6:30PM.
