Can Stem Therapy Help With Pain?

Stem cell therapy has excellent pain relief benefits for a wide range of conditions and injuries! Stem cells target and reduce inflammation while also regenerating healthy tissue in affected areas. In doing so, they can effectively reduce pain and restore proper function.

What Types of Conditions Can an Orthopedic Surgeon Address?

An orthopedic surgeon can provide vital treatments for patients with many painful conditions. Orthopedic surgeons can offer repair for dysfunctional joints including the hips, knees, shoulders, and hands. Orthopedic surgeons can also offer important interventions for patients with degenerative conditions such as arthritis that can cause chronic pain and inflammation in the joints, neck, and back. For patients with herniated discs, hip fractures, osteoarthritis in their knees, and many other painful conditions, an orthopedic surgeon can provide them with a path forward to a more functional and comfortable life.

How Long Do PRP Injections Last?

One week after receiving PRP injections, patients with osteoarthritis noted a decrease in pain with results that lasted for six months. PRP treatments generally last six months, and with periodic maintenance injections, can be extended for even longer. The period of efficacy for PRP treatments will depend on a number of factors, including:

- The condition which the PRP injections are targeting.
- The overall condition of health of the patient receiving the injection.
- The response the body has to the initial round of treatment.

While PRP injections show great promise, the benefits experienced by each individual will depend on a case-by case-basis. Patients may experience different outcomes even if they are receiving PRP injections for the same condition.

What Are the Common Causes of Back Pain?

Back pain is a very common issue, affecting millions of people worldwide. The reasons for back pain can vary depending on age, activity level, and overall health. Some of the most common culprits are musculoskeletal, affecting muscles, ligaments, and tendons in your back.

Strain from improper lifting, overuse, or prolonged sitting can lead to muscle or ligament tears, causing pain and discomfort. Degenerative changes in the spine, such as osteoarthritis, can also contribute to back pain. This condition causes wear and tear on the spinal discs and joints, leading to stiffness and pain.

What Causes a Rotator Cuff Tear or Injury?

The rotator cuff is located in the shoulder and refers to a grouping of muscles and tendons that support and surround the shoulder joint in order to keep the upper arm bone firmly in place inside of the shoulder. Rotator cuff injuries are one of the most common types of shoulder injuries, with the chances of developing one increases with age. They can commonly happen in younger people whose jobs require them to repeatedly lift their arms above their head, such as a carpenter or painter.
A rotator cuff injury or tear can be the result of a single injury sustained to the shoulder, wear and tear over time or the natural progressive degeneration of the tendons in the joint. The tendons can become damaged or irritated as a result of prolonged heavy lifting or repetitive overhead activity, typically found in construction-type jobs. Family history may also play a role in increasing a person's risk for developing a rotator cuff injury.
